I keep going back

Allen's has really good food, a great bar selection - including amazing Ontario wines - and an awesome patio for summer. Go.

The lady owner was extremely rude to my wife and I. Simply asking if a table was available seemed to be way too much for this person to handle. Filthy responses from her, rude demeanor, and frankly appalling treatment of us. Spend your money somewhere else where your patronage will be appreciated.

It's all about the music ..... attended a "Lunch at Allen's" concert last week - it was great - so we figured we better explore this place while we were on the Danforth at another great concert. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing, the wine list is excellent but not inexpensive. We really enjoyed the halibut and chips .... get... More

Spent far too much money in this eclectic spot over the years. Great wines, beers and Scotch whisky. Friendly food and service and the best patio (they call it the back garden) in the business. A real must if you're in Toronto. The owner is a hoot - owns his own herd of beef cattle and butchery!

While this place does have all the usual pub fare, it also has some great dishes that reflect a variety of tastes. The curries are delightful, and they have various festivals through the year - steaks, lobster, as well as themed dinners - Thanksgiving, Robbie Burns, wine evening. We attended a Robbie Burns night, and even though they were serving... More

There was a nice variety on the menu, and on the weekend the Brunch was available. The service was prompt and welcoming. Choice of outdoor patio or inside. I enjoyed the Irish smoked salmon, and they offered a huge selection of beer on tap.

Irish pub with a flair. Great for a quick drink or a casual leisurely meal. Very popular with the locals (always a good sign). A huge selection of over 300 whiskies,140 beer & some 100+ VQA wines to decide from ( could take a while ) We had mussels, calamari & a wonderful oak-smoked Irish salmon. Other fare very original... On a Friday night the pub was hopping but the outside dining at the back of the building was an oasis of quiet ... good selection of beers and an interesting but pricy menu ... the menu tends toward chef interpretations of classic pub fare with prices to match ... not really fine dining but an interesting upgrade from classic... Had the best meal of our whole trip to Canada in Allen's. The food was just excellent and I couldn't find fault. There were 4 of us, including 2 teens, and we were sorry we left it so late into our trip to eat here. Great service and an amazing array of Irish Whiskey! We'll be back someday.

Went to meet old friends from out of town, and they had picked the place, so I checked out some the very mixed reviews online. I was pleasantly surprised that the favorable reviews were correct. The staff was consistently professional, from the bartender to the hostess and then the waitress. If you are a scotch fan, they have a wider... More

Staying in East End

Neighborhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
