Great little pub

Went to meet old friends from out of town, and they had picked the place, so I checked out some the very mixed reviews online. I was pleasantly surprised that the favorable reviews were correct. Allens is a long-established pub on The Danforth in Toronto. It claims to be an Irish pub, but aside from the fact that they sell Guinness, I couldn't find anything Irish about it. It has a huge selection of beers available from all over the world. The menu is very extensive. The four of us at lunch each had a... More

On a trip to Toronto, our daughter took us to Allen's as a early Father's Day treat for her dad. She wanted somewhere we'd not been to before and where he could get his staples, soup and steak (he ordered Fish & Chips!) It was a busy Friday night and the place was hopping. It was amazing to watch the... More

The food here is quite consistent, great fish and chips and one of the best burgers in town. The backyard patio is what make this place special with large trees and soft lighting at night. This is a spot that you know what your getting, no surprises. The service is the only issue I have at times.

Though the menu looks great, and I'm certain the chefs are worth the food ratings that roll through for this establishment, I didn't make it past the hostess, after she sent myself & my guest back to the bar twice to wait for a table to open up. She never sat us, and glared from her post whilst seating others... More

This restaurant has abysmal service. Servers clearly hate their jobs and are rude and provide disinterested service. Allen's has a pretentiousness that has clearly been cultivated over a number of years. The food is just okay. Factory Girl just down the street has much better food. Other places on the Danforth have better food at lesser price. I would avoid... More

The food is good but overpriced. The lamb shank came with mashed potatoes only. The ribs were without doubt excellent, tender and tasty. The salads served with the ribs were also great. However we were greeted at the door with an announcement that there were two dinner seatings and we would have to leave after 2 hours. Menus weren't even... More

It is also a great place to pop in for a drink at the bar- very friendly staff and customers. also friday... More

Allen's famous for the burgers but last couple of trips they seem to be getting smaller and smaller. I understand that they come without sides but this little guy seemed very lonely all by itself and at $14.95 the price was already steep! Will think twice

Staying in East End

Neighborhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
