Great aperitifs, food ok, wine excellent!

Food slightly disappointing but the wine made up for it! Gnocchi a little soggy and too much, although the sauce was very tasty. Staff very helpful and friendly.

We were three people looking for a downtown restaurant quiet enough to relax and talk without having to shout. This place fitted the bill perfectly, even though it's surrounded by loud, crowded chain restaurants hosting corporate events. I, the hungriest, had the $35 three-course prix fixe menu: the food was in moderate portions, well presented, and tasty. We shared a... More

Everything we ordered from the shrimp scampi and mixed green salad to the salmon, chicken and pasta with sausage was so fresh and well prepared. Cannot say enough about how fresh and well prepared our meals were. We will return!!!

The best way to describe the place was that the food did not match the ambiance. I expected much better. The restaurant was very nice, but the food was ordinary at best. Mediocre sauces, ordinary salad, simply nothing special. Linguine and clams were again, mediocre. Sauce was mostly butter. Prices were average, portions were decidedly small. My wife's gelato was... Under stated elegance, great service. Will modify your meal to your liking. Generous portions, great wines. Homemade pasta - wonderful. Place to go before an opera performance. You will not be disappointed.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
