Excellent Ethiopian Eating

I confess that this was the first time that I have eaten Ethiopian cuisine. I ate here on the recommendation of a colleague and I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was flavourful with being overpowering and spiced to perfection. Servings are huge. If you are like me and don't know what to... read more

I used to come here. The good was average but an easy walk from home. The last few times the service has been outright surly and as the restaurant no longer takes credit cards I said I would not be back. There are other Ethiopian restaurants nearby that take credit cards and have equally poor service and marginal food so... More

The restaurant looked like a local favourite. It was a good mix of Ethiopian people and the rest of us. The service was below par. We had to wait for 2-3 minutes before the hostess acknowledged us, even though we were the only ones waiting to be seated. We had to wait another 15 minutes to just get a glass... More

I love Ethiopian food so we decided to get some after a day at the Royal Winter Fair. Our favourite place was closed, so we went down the street to Lalibela. We were debating whether to get the collard green and chick pea platter vs. the vegetarian platter, so the waiter suggested we go for the vegetarian platter since it... More

Met with friends for dinner. Although the menu offers a wide variety of options, I was somehow disappointed with the meal we chose. Compared to similar restaurants, the variety of choice doesn't necessarily mean better quality. Prices are average. Service and customer service were okay and could improve a bit.

It felt too crowded, though it wasn't very busy. Just one waitress was working, felt short staffed, she wasn't very friendly. And after hearing out my taste preferences recommended a dish which ended up not like what I expected. And I am well familiar with Ethiopian food. Also the coffee ceremony is overwhelming. Too much of the incense smell.

I've had Ethiopian food many times before. And I like it. But this time I found little bones in the lamb stew. Other than that the food was ok. The service was great and friendly. But it's too out of the way for me to bother coming back.

Recently ordered two items for delivery: lamb tibs and the vegetarian platter. The driver showed up quickly, but when we opened the order we realized that the tibs had been missed. They were listed on the receipt and we were charged for them, so we phoned the restaurant and they promised to send the missing part of the order as... More

Good neighbourhood restaurant, quaintly decorated, with good ethiopian food and very friendly staff. People can also mingle at their bar, which makes for a fun atmosphere.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
