First Time with Ethiopian Cuisine

This was our first experience with Ethiopian cuisine. We didn't know what to expect, but everything turned out great. Since we were first timers they served us the Lalibela platter, which included many different kinds of food on it and being hungry, we devoured the whole thing. So come here on an... read more

Excellent Ethiopian food and very friendly staff. I enjoyed the vegetarian choices in particular and highly recommend the large platter with the mix of vegetarian options.

We went there last night my daughter said she wanted to try the food. The meal was exactly as I remembered it. The injera was spongy and the various accompaniments were excellent. The four of us shared a Lalibela platter. The servers were very kind and took good care of us. The place was full soon after we arrived. The... More

I went to Lalibela a few days ago. I had never tried Ethiopian food before and there was a groupon for this restaurant and saw it had relatively good reviews online so a friend and I decided to give it a go. We had made a reservation for 9 and when we walked in they were pretty busy and only... More

Been several times with friends and family. Love the food and service. The dining experience is welcoming. Service has always been excellent. Dishes such as Goden Tibs, the lamb in berbere sauce, lalibella platters veg and non veg, their kitfo (ethiopian style steak tartare) are really delicious. Will try other combinations from the menu the next time. There is nothing... More

We decided to try something new! Our waitress was pleasant and helpful when we let her know we were unfamiliar with Etheopian cuisine. We chose the sampler which had both vegetable and meat choices all served over and with injera, a pancake/crepe like item. Our group of 4 was mixed on the injera as it was cold and had a... More

This is my first experience eating Ethiopian food. It was enjoyable though there were a few things I was a little nervous to try. Overall it was a positive experience. The restaurant is quite small and was crowded. Very hard to move around. Service was slow at first but then got better. Would try again.

I have been several times with family and friends to this Ethiopian restaurant in my neighbourhood. The atmosphere is very cosy, the waitresses welcoming and smiling, and the food is authentic ! It is a fabulous way to share a meal in a non conventional way: everyone shares the same huge platter where the food is resting on the Ethiopian... More

I have no idea why it took me so long to visit Lalibela. I love Ethiopian food, but tend to eat it only when Im abroad. Well, that has certainly changed - good food and good service. I expect to return very soon

Nice place, good service and food; better than other Ethiopian restaurants I've been too. Prices were decent for the portion size. Only negative thing I have to say is that the meat (lamb and beef) were a little too well done for my liking and a bit on the chewy side.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
