Very good breakfast and lunch. Morning staff is friendly and efficient. Night waitress is very stern and not welcoming. Always go before 2"pm

Stick-to-the ribs breakfast. Good coffee, prompt service. This is a no-nonsense place that probably has looked the same since the 50s--you could see Columbo (Peter Falk) walk in and feel right at home..the worn-out furniture and panel walls and the decor, such as it is, are part of the charisma. Had the (Canadian) bacon and eggs (scrambled) breakfast, served with... More

The food is very good but the servings are almost too big. The restaurant's appearance may turn a few people off but the food is worth it.

I visited Toronto by myself, from Australia in October 2013. I visited the golden Diner for breakfast one morning, because it was walking distance from my hotel. I was greeted by a friendly man and took a seat. I received a large, delicious breakfast for a very reasonable price. The restaurant staff struck up conversation with me and were very... More

This restaurant may have a good breakfast but the dinner was not good. I almost turned around and left when I walked in due to the odour and the really beat up booths. The service was not particularly friendly and the meal was poor. Homemade chicken soup was not good. Chicken Parmesan had a large slice of unmelted processed mozzarella... More

The first was a veal parmesan with spaghetti which was okay tasting but a really giant meal and the German waitress asked if anything was wrong when I could only finish half of it. The second was a Giros Dinner where the meat had obviously not been taken from a kebab roll but was pre prepared slices of exactly the... More

This plays smells bad, isn't very clean, and the service isn't very friendly. The food wasn't good enough to make up for all that.

We randomly went there looking for somewhere to eat for breakfast. When we came in, the waiter asked us if we some some cofee. I declined the offer (but my friend accepted it) Then when we ordered, I took something that included a glass of orange juice. Because I didn't take the cofee, the waiter gave me an extra glass... We picked the Golden Diner for Saturday brunch because it was close to our hotel and recommended by TripAdvisor. Boy, did we ever strike gold! This is a pleasant, old fashion diner with a lot of character. You don't get ultra modern decor or fancy plates. You get great service, and plenty of good and fresh food. You can tell... More
