Myself and relatives have been dining here for decades. Not that it is someplace exquisite but mostly for the memories. As already rightly mentioned, the food is not A-list by any means but well-priced and plentiful for the buck they charge. It's too bad that they took out the mini juke-boxes that came with each booth (not that I ever... More

'The Goof' as locals call the Garden Gate is an institution in the Beaches. It's a bit of a strange restaurant with a combination menu of Asian food and all-day breakfast American-style. Portions are huge and good value. The food and service is nothing exceptional but it's a good place to get a cheap, filling meal when you're spending the... More

This is a restaurant for the locals. One simply can't wax rhapsodic about the food or the service because it will build up false expectations to those from away. Yet I love the food and the service, warts and all. I love the combo plates (Chinese/Canadian); I love the breakfasts; I love the chef specials (some of the Chinese specials... More

I have been going to the Goof forever, well over 45 years anyway. The food is always basic and good value for what they charge. You could not ask for nicer staff. Hazel who is only there occasionally is an original. She remembers everyone and is always happy to see old customers. Jackie is another who makes my day whenever... More

This local Chinese restaurant has been around a loooong time and continues to charm locals and visitors alike. The food really is only okay but it's fast and cheap and fun to eat there so I'll go back and continue to recommend this place.

Small booths in a light airy restaurant in the Beach area of Toronto. Staff is friendly and competent. Offers a range of food from Chinese, seafood and pastas. The Marilyn special is wonderful. Reasonably priced

The Goo Foo is the name that the locals call this restaurant because years ago some of the letters in the sign went out and all you could see was Goo Foo ( was good food) and that's what's stuck as the name for this restaurant... the food isn't fancy by any means and the decor isn't fancy either but... The food at the goof isn't great but its so cheap! You can spend $4-6 and get a really good amount of food. You will never leave hungry. The service is fine and its not the cleanest but the atmosphere makes up for it. I love going to the goof before walking along the beach on a Sunday morning and... More

Nestled on a street corner across from the historic Fox Theatre is a Queen East landmark - the "GooF" as it was known in better days. The appeal of the location and its roots in Toronto history led my wife and I to visit - a visit all-too-soon foiled by a sweating, forgetful waiter who managed to bring a 3rd... More

This place, once fantastic with old booths from the 50s, personal juke boxes and a remnant from 1950s North America was transformed into nothingness with a revamp a few years ago - but the awful food and horrendous service everyone goes for remained! The whole gigantic menu is appalling, comforting and the service from stalwart Jackie always makes me laugh... More
