El Trompo is a great 'hole in the wall' Mexican restaurant. Have visited a couple of times now and great food each time. They have a little 'patio' - essentially a few tables on the sidewalk. The tacos are great - we usually get the choriso & the spicy chicken. Have tried the guacamole, the fried cheese, chips & salsa.... More

Went here for lunch today - was some of the freshest Mexican I have had. Guacamole, tacos, cocktails, everything was fast, fresh and very affordable. Staff we're friendly, offering advice on their preferred dishes and we're very knowledgable on the ingredients. Certainly worth the visit if you are in the area. There are plenty of imitation Mexican places, but this... More

Having grown up in Mexico, it has been tough to be away from its delicious food for so long. El Trompo has solved that issue. Say what you will about smaller portions and close proximity between tables, but that is as honest of an experience as it gets! The setting and location are similar to what you would experience in... I had lunch and dinner at this place. When i ordered the tacos i thought i might have to take some to go as there are five per dish. That did not happen though because they are actually pretty small. The meat was well seasoned and i loved that it had small chunks of pineapple. The guacamole is also good,... More

I swear Toronto people have some low standards for food lol. I went with some friends and we were kind of disappointed because of the great reviews. It's just ok. I don't think it's made fresh everyday either - had that feeling. Mehh is what I need to say. If I'm in the area, maybe I'll stop by but it's... More

The food is good and servers friendly. They have different salsas which is great for mexican food. Everyone of us loved what we had

El Trompo has a good reputation among Toronto foodies. Can't explain why that is. The chicken tacos were pretty crappy and the tables were really jammed together. On the plus side, the service was pretty good and the prices were very reasonable. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing... but I walked out really disappointed.

Tried this place for the first time but will never go back! Drinks were good ($6.25 6 for a Margarita) and the food was very tasty, what there was of it. We ordered a bowl of Guacamole ($6.75) to share. They brought a very small bowl of corn chips with it and we kept having to ask for more chips!... More

When we make the trek to Toronto for my hospital visits we always visit the Kensington market and try a new restaurant within the area. Its a nice walk of 20-30 minutes but I love it all <3 We were very pleased with the taco pibil and shared the taco de pollo as well. Our taste buds exploded with flavour... More

As tourists wandering about the enjoyable Kensington Market on a weekday a bit after lunch time, we were looking for someplace to grab a bite. El Trompo's patio was crowded with happy looking customers; other places were pretty empty. So we joined the crowd and were soon happy customers. This is simple Mexican food in an unpretentious setting, but it's... More
