There were eight of us. I started with the zucchini, sweet pea & sweet corn fritters. My main was the pasta of the day, very good, but my memory isn't quite so. For dessert it was double chocolate layer cake. All washed down with a decent Argentine Malbec ... I think. Every one of our eight thought highly of their... More

Great food, the service is better with very visit, the martinis are to die for. A lot of fun on the weekends as the dining room becomes dance floor and the nightlife explodes. I love Byzantium!

A Toronto native took me to this place, and I understand why. The food was just off the chain. Simple but lengthy menu gave me lots of choices. The drinks came fast and the service was very friendly. Had the Tapas plate and tacos while my friend had the veal. Excellent!! I'll go back in a heartbeat.

Last week was my second visit to Toronto-Canada, and the second time I had dinner at this restaurant. I remember the food being good two years ago, but now it was excellent! This time there were six of us. We started with cocktails and I had an Appletini (Apple Martini) which was exactly how I have them at home, splendid!... More

I took my sister to Byzantium for the $25 summerlicious menu. We both ordered the mussels for the appetizer and were very pleased with the portion size and flavour. For the main we both ordered the fish tacos and really enjoyed them. They were also quite filling! For dessert we had the strawberry mousse which tasted very rich. They have... More

I came here with a couple of my girlfriends for Summerlicious. Wow, what an experience. Their menu was excellent and had a lot of different options. That was the reason we chose this place to begin with; $25 and you get to choose from 5-6 items for appetizer and entree. I personally had the quinoa salad and fish tacos. That... More

We dined here on our final night (June 9) in the city. Clearly we saved the best for last. Sarah was our server and she was both gracious and knowledgeable. She did not rush us and helped us with some menu choices. The salmon with the white beans and vegetables was truly the best I have ever had. But the... More

Two hours to read the martini menu alone? You bet! And they'll even mix ones not on the menu if you ask (like a vesper martini, Mr Bond). The Sunday special AAA prime rib of beef is fabulous, meltingly tender and presented with beautifully cooked vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and horseradish sauce which combine to give a contemporary take on an... Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
