Excellent Indian cuisine in a relatively quiet atmosphere

I went to Babur on a Friday evenng, arriving at 19.30. The place is nicely decorated, the wait staff friendly and prompt and the food was excellent. We shared two dishes--one was medium spicy (but not overly so) and the other was a delicious vegetarian dish with cottage cheese (no, really, it was... read more

We went here for a late lunch and found the food to be great so would recommend a stop. However, it was pretty pricey for the amount and we too had pretty unimpressive service especially for the price.

This USED to be a good restaurant with decent pricing. However, now, sky-high prices are disproportionate with stingy portion sizes. I had lunch there this week and was shocked when the $15 potato-cauliflower dish I ordered was served; the portion measured approximately 1 cup. It didn't even come with rice; I ordered a side of rice, which ended up costing... More

Went for a business meal and this is where we ended up. Staff were not interested servicing the customers. Food was very very poor with not much flavor or creativity. Not going here again.

Over priced, a gastronomical disappointment and measly portions !!! Here is what I ordered and here is how I rate the food: Goan Prawn Curry: 6 small-medium sized shrimps thrown into a watery generic sauce. 1/5 Shalish Paneer: tasted reheated 3/5 Pudina Paratha: smaller than described and did not appear fresh 3/5 Tragically, I have dined at this restaurant before... After being spoiled by good Indian cuisine in Calgary, a friend and expert (his mother is the best vegetarian Indian cook ever), took us to Toronto's Babur on Queen Street West. I am was born and raised in Toronto proper so am no stranger to good Indian here too but this place was new to me. Now with my husband... More

Whilst in Toronto we had dinner at Babur. We were starving and really looking forward to a good curry. Although the food was good we were a tad disappointed: for the money the curries were bland and lacked authenticity. Yes the decor is very nice but I'd rather the effort had gone into the food (except the poppadoms - these... More

Babur has a good choice of Indian typical dishes, the place is cozy and good also for romantic dinners. Good choice of wine that are a bit expensive though. Overall is a good choice for Indian food in Toronto downtown.

My wife and I ate an early dinner at Babur on Valentine's Day. We discovered the restaurant by chance as we were walking on Queen East and we are sure happy that we did. The food was fantastic! It was without doubt the best indian food I've ever eaten and it ranks right up there with one of the best... More

This Indian restaurant on Queen West near McCaul offers very good Indian fare in a relaxing, contemporary ambiance. The service is very good and the prices are decent for what you get. It is one of the better Indian spots that I have tried in the western downtown area. My colleagues and I wanted to grab some Indian food after... More
