Last week I took my son and my grandson for lunch. I have worked in the area over 25 years and knew most of the restaurants in the area. My grandson picked L'Avenue. What a great experience! The place was quite busy, There was only one waitress and she was great. The food was delicious and very wel presented. The... More

Excellent food and friendly service make this a great place for dinner or lunch or brunch. best French onion soup in this city, and the bone marrow is fabulous. Try everything -- all delicious.

We visited L'avenue for the first time with another couple who had received a strong recommendation. Ambience is very comfortable and service friendly and attentive. Good variety on the menu. Excellent butternut squash soup. Mussels and seafood stew were generous portions and delicious. Disappointing boeuf bourgignon. Liver, my fave, was nicely cooked and tasty but I've never seen liver with... More

First of all, the wait staff were very attentive and the food very good, it's just that we were one of three other couples in the restaurant and It was a very long wait for our food. The staf in the kitchen seemed to be plentiful just slow service.

Love the area on Bayview avenue. Came here for anniversary dinner, was a nice place, nice atmosphere, great seat by the window. Wine selection good. Had the appetizer special which was amazing. Our entrees were good, nothing super amazing, but well prepared and fresh. Would come back again. Didn't have dessert, but I bet it was amazing. Prices were on... More

We went here last night. Two couples. The service was great and the food delicious. On the waitresses recommendation I had the fish stew which was really, really good. My friend had the schnitzel which she loved and the two husbands had the fried chicken a la Basque which I tried and I thought it was AMAZING!! They both finished... More

We were back to L'Avenue for the first time in a while, and glad to find it was very much still a reliable choice. Cheerful service. Good wine selections by the glass. Nice ambience. Some ambitious items on the menu. Personally, I thought my wiener schnitzel was a bit chewy...but my dinner-mate was happy with her selection. Lemon blueberry tart... More

This is a delightful restaurant in midtown Toronto. I have been here twice now and both times the ambiance, service and food were excellent. There is an excellent wine list. My only regret is that I could not sample more of the cheese and dessert list as I was so satisfied by dinner. I was able to try both the... More

Staying in East York

Neighborhood Profile
East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
