Tastes As Good As It Looks!

I was really excited to try this restaurant, being one of the few exclusively vegan places in the city. I had a vegan friend in from out of town so I thought it would be the perfect occasion to head to the west end and try it out. I had been excited to have found a restaurant doing southern comfort... I went out of my way to visit this spot based on the reviews. I found it dark and pretty spartan. Food was good but not great. I had the "chicken" and waffles with a side salad. The salad was doused in oil, the waffles did not taste fresh and the syrup was probably Aunt Jemima's. Kind of shocked a... More

I love travelling to really big, hip cities. Because in really hip, big cities, you find really awesome veg-only dining emporiums. Hogstown didn't disappoint us, longtime vegans, nor our friend who decided to join us as vegan for the several days we were visiting. Our friend literally was astonished at the fried "chik'n" taste, texture and crunchy-ness. Friendly staff, reasonable... More

We came here for a celebratory vegan meal and we were punched in the face by the vegan gods - it was great! Big portions, wide variety and cool location. Proper North American fill up!

It's refreshing to see a vegan restaurant that's not full of health nuts! Herby fries are delicious, good selection of sodas, unchicken and waffles highly recommended.

I took some friends that hadn't tried vegan cuisine at all so they were first timers. I chose Hogtown vegan mainly because the items featured are closely associated with pub style food but only vegan. We had ordered nachos to start and the cheese sauce doesn't make you feel like you are missing out on the real thing. I would... More

Best food I ate in Toronto. I am a vegetarian so was refreshing to see a menu where I could pick between everything on offer and not just 2 options... I had chicken and waffles which is the best plate of food I have ever had. Two men in our party are meat eaters and they both loved it too.

In Toronto for business and wanted to try Toronto's vegan cuisine. Met a friend for lunch. He is not vegan but really loved the taco salad with extra un-chicken. I had the un-chicken sandwich with a side of the Mac and "cheese". Both were tasty. Would highly recommend Hogtown Vegan to anyone visiting Toronto.

A great theme for a Vegan bar/cafe/restaurant. My meal was the burger it was huge, yummy & a good tasty treat from walking miles n miles that day. My wife had the Southern Platter which sounded better than it tasted as the combo of mac n cheese with greens was a yucky combo, the mac n cheese wasn't great either.... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
