A work of love - and it shows. This cosy, gastro brasserie is worth a trip across town if your not in the Gay Village

Despite the common name, there is nothing ordinary about Smith. It is one of those rare places where the food, service and ambiance combine to create a wonderful evening. Spread over 2 levels with a rear patio, there are enough candles and soft lighting to shame a Scandinavian, the original... read more

This place is simply fabulous! There is a cute outside off the street patio which allows for quiet outdoor dining amidst the city. Service was phenomenal! Food was top notch. Can't wait to go back!

We sat at the back patio, we reserved!!! woohoo so we didn't have to wait. The food was exquisite, we had the burrito, the croque madam and the pulled pork. Wow everything was delicious, the service was prompt but I didn't see the bill.. Perfect for a date, with friends or even families. I love the Village.

This resturant is a beautiful place to meet and have a nice dinner with friends. The Manue provide you with enough choices which will met any foodie requirement. The wine was excellent, but the device was outstanding, friendly , informative and polite, which set all six of us in a very positive state of mind.

Seven of us met for dinner on a warm mid-May Thursday evening. Smith's is billed as a three storey restaurant but I only know it for the has a small restaurant narrow patio in the back with a row of tables along a brick wall. I imagine that in the summer with the lights twinkling overhead and the patio filled,... More

Stopped in for a Sunday brunch without knowing anything about Smith. I was happy with the food, service, and decor. The salmon plate was nice, and the atmosphere was lively and friendly.

Went in for dinner on a warm Saturday evening. Small restaurant with nice ambiance, yard sale China assorted plates and cutlery and a small but interesting menu. We had the Serrano ham appetizer and it was very nice, they also brought bread and it was warm crispy and lots of it. My wife had the Steak Frites and her 8oz... More

Aside from the amazing decor - who is able to think of these things - pedal activated water fountains to wash your hands in an all gender washroom... Aside from the amazing meal - you can't decide if you want to gobble it up as it tasted so good or to savour every bite... I had the wine-braised ribs and... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
