Winterlicious

A group of us tried Smith last night for Winterlicious -- I'd never been to this restaurant and I enjoyed it as soon as I walked through the door. The decor is lovely, rustic and modern at the same time.. we were seated immediately and our server was friendly and attentive. I had the smith salad... read more

It's hard to find a good brunch place in the city that takes reservations and while searching for a reservation for 4 + 1 baby in the winter months, I came across Smith. It has a great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff with delicious food. I have since been twice since then for brunch and all have been positive experiences.... More

So we decided to checkout this restaurant as it was recommended by a friend... "Trendy and cozy"gotta give them that however I could see why some people complain about everything being so cramped together... The prices could be better for the quality of food they are serving! For instance a very simple looking burger which even tastes like a simple... More

This place is upsetting. I hate it when wait staff don't write the orders down. There were two mistakes made today that could've been avoided with pen and paper. The eggs that were brought weren't cooked correctly and they forgot my side order of bacon completely. The atmosphere is slightly pretentious but that's to be expected. The food was good... More

We reserved a table for 12 to 15 people on a Friday night, waited 30 minutes to take a drink order, waited another 30 minutes to take our food order and waited an additional 60 minutes before our food hit the table. During this time we were only asked once if we wanted another drink. Menu choices were minimal, our... More

Squeezed into the top floor of this former dance club (amongst self-congratulating John Bairdish PC wannabes), the appetizer of meat and cheese could have been bought for half the price at Metro or No Frills. The frites were good, but the pate tasted like the kind bought in Spain for 1 Euro. My fettucine with braised beef lacked salt or... More

I went there last nite on a date and had a phenom time!! It was a first date. I had a small salad and a trout main. He had 7pints and four jack Daniels. As I prayed to spontaneously combust I looked around the amazing atmosphere and made note to bring some one who could appreciate it more. The server... More

We went to this place as I heard about it from a friend and despite the fact that we were quite a large group, were amazed by the quality of food, service and the overall experience. The ambiance is so nice and wonderful that you don't want to leave even when finished! Everyone in our group was happy with their... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
