I have never been anything but completely satisfied with the excellent food and caring, sincere service at The Blue Plate. Blue Plate is my "go to" place for Birthdays, Anniversaries and New Year's Eve because my guests and I always feel welcome and special. The owner is often our server and is that perfect balance of attentive, friendly and respectful.... More

Our party of 4 came upon Blue Plate after being told by several other restaurants in the area that there would be a 2 hour wait to get a table. We were greeted at the door with a friendly smile, and even though most of the tables were reserved, they managed to find a nice table for us. The atmosphere... More

A diner indeed with 4 star prices. The offerings were mostly burgers so I went with the flow. I had a veggies burger. It was pasty and mushy and it didn't hold together . The flavours did not meld and close to inedible and the price was $17. The fries were fine. The comments for the other 2 dinners were... More

Thank you for your comments Harriet. I remember you. Anyone who’s been in the restaurant business for a lengthy time, like me, has a sense for when there’s going to be trouble. I can tell when someone walks in the door whether their dining experience is going to go well or not. Maybe it’s because they don’t say hello when... More

I visited Blue Plate for the first time during a massive Toronto heat wave and admitedly decided on this restaurant because of their A/C. But my friend and I were pleasantly surprised. I am going to steal their idea of serving the water at the table in old Absolut vodka bottle with a spring of fresh rosemary. Simple but brilliant... More

Eaten here three times; pleased every time. Menu changes from time to time, but always good.

Admittedly, what initially motivated me to eat here was its short walking distance from my brother's condo nearby. But the food is quite good, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere - classic diner/bistro decor and a snug but very nice rear patio. Very nice staff, and reasonable prices: and you don't have yell to have a conversation at your... More

We enjoyed our meal at Blue plate. We were off to a nearby concert and elected for dinner at the Blue Plate. Service was friendly and quick and the food was very good. I had the home made sausages which were really good but the braised red cabbage on the plate was great...I could have eaten a whole plate of... More
