it's all true

Based on the great review we recently had a birthday dinner for my daughter at the Auld spot. She wanted great poutine and this certainly delivered. I had the daily salmon special which was fantastic. Will definitely return.

Great restaurant on the Danforth. Excellent service when we visited the other day. My friend had the fish and chips and I the steak and both were delicious. Would definitely come back here again.

They have a small patio - just a few spots - although they do open up the front so you do get the fresh air. The menu is limited, wine list limited but lots of interesting choices in beer. They are very friendly - we had good service right away but they forgot the order when someone else joined us.

My friend and I had a late lunch here in Saturday. I had read on Toronto.com that this was one of the top 10 places in the city for Mac and Cheese - it sounded like it was worth a try and in our neck of the woods (east end). Things I loved about the experience - ambiance is excellent... More

We shared dinner at the Auld Spot in a booth. Despite the place being very busy, the two of us were impressed that we were not hurried over the 3 hours that we occupied the booth. And despite the packed house,we could actually hear each other speak. The fish and chips was better than average. Desert menu was limited to... More

Run by a great bunch of guys; food is great as a bonus especially oysters and the fried chicken ... The atmosphere is great either a seat at the bar or in one of the booths

We live in the neighbourhood and this is one of our favourite go-to spots for a quick bite, nice drinks and wine/beer, and a casual, fun atmosphere. The food is good, with a wide enough range of choices. I am a fan of the mussels. Great drinks list...the Penicillin seemed to work for me last evening ;) This is a... More

The food and drink here are deserving of the gastropub moniker, but the place is just too popular! You can hardly have a conversation and often it's standing room only, so if that's OK then you're fine.

I live just down the street from Auld Spot, but we never really go in and frequent another pub down the way (there are plenty to chose from). However, i's a good spot with a nice warm vibe, a food menu that isn't overly traditional and is a notch higher than your average "pub-grub". The beer on draught is mostly... More

Really love this local spot for a night out with friends. On this occasion we had the fish and chips - always good - but we have had the oysters which are also good. My wife (she's the one with the taste) said that the fish tasted a little funny. Maybe the oil they used to cook the fish. I... More

Staying in East End

Neighborhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
