Upscale casual, downtown Toronto. The first JOEY to hit the streets of downtown Toronto. Located just off Yonge on Dundas, this place is a work of art - exposed brick walls, open-air dining, crazy custom lighting and the Enomatic wine system. We could go on, but you should come and see it for yourself.

Went for dinner with friends. I ordered a Martini. The first shocking news was that they had no martini glasses so we were told we could not order the martini. Then as we started ordering our appetizers we were told that they were out of the chicken flatbread. It's the opening weekend of CNE and by their own admission it... More

Location is great just minutes from Eaton Centre. You have to go outside to get here, though. We walked in without reservations. The place was fairly full around lunchtime. Meal was great and they have a nice selection of interesting beers on tap. I tried one of the promoted lagers and it was quite good. Can't recall the name, though.... More

Went to Joey Eaton Centre but didn't have reservations. The hostess was able to accommodate us even at a table by the open window. The window fronted Dundas Street and was like a large garage door that folded open. Very cool and nice ambiance and decor. There is a large bar, multiple TVS and an upstairs for private functions. Seating... More

Trendy bar with a limited menu. The food was good to excellant, the speed and service was excellent. The mushroom soup was an excellent choice. Not a place that I would frequent but a nice experience none the less.

Decided to grab a light bite here as it was convenient to our hotel. Had seen where it was described as hit or miss but decided to give it a try. Aesthetically I really liked it and we got seated at an outdoor table which was nice. The food was fine, no real complaints there. Our service however was lacking.... More

We visited Joey to meet a friend and really enjoyed our evening. We had a selection of sharing plates including wings, calamari and some hummus. Service was excellent and the sangria cocktails were like juice. Really great atmosphere and welcoming.

After some poor restaurants Joey was a welcome change. The interior is really nice and service was professional and friendly. The menu looked very different from the other places. Original dishes, with an Asian touch. Bonus points for the walk to the restrooms. It is a 60 meter walk across at least two different floors (might be three, I lost... More

The food was lukewarm, salads were delivered but no cutlery, a beverage never arrived, several glasses arrived dirty and it was eventually admitted that all of the glasses in the dishwasher for that load had to be rewashed and the bill took 15 minutes to get.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
