Fantastic Evening

My daughter and I went on a Thursday night for dinner. The service was alright. The waitress seemed to interested to chat with the other staff then to check on her customers. The food was excellent; my daughter ordered the Coq au Vin and I the Steak Frites. But the presentation and care that... read more

Our group of 8 had a wonderful dinner at La Societe. We ate in a room reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower, complete with metal rails and curtains for privacy. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, decorated with mosaic tiles and a 'brasserie' feel. Service was prompt and professional, beginning with the basket of assorted fresh baked breads. Various dishes... More

The restaurant is beautiful from the mosaic tiled floor to the colourful glass ceiling. It felt like you were in Paris for a few hours less the airfare. The steak frites and pistachio creme brulee were exceptional. The service was helpful and friendly. I had a fantastic experience.

We had a wonderful formal dinner including oysters, duck confit and a wonderful bottle of white burgundy. This is not cheap but worth it as the experience is unique and enjoyable.

Recently had dinner here and was definitely not disappointed. Firstly, this place is in the heart of Yorkville and the service is first class. The food is also excellent. I had the steak frites which we amazing. The french onion soup was a little rich but that is the nature of that type of soup and nothing to do with... More

My husband and I were in This restaurant on Monday ( the coldest day of the year so far). We were looking for a restaurant within a short walk of where we were and found this lovely looking Bistro. Having lived in France a few years we thought it would be perfect. The appearance was the only lovely thing I... More

This used to be our go to place for brunch, however on the last few visits, including the last, there is evidence of slippage in terms of food and service professionalism. The food is inconsistent in terms of the portion size, ie the quiche used to be tall and fluffy with a tough crust, now is now virtually flat however... More

Spilled moule juice all over the table when food was served and never bothered to wipe it up. Never asked how was food, never returned to clear table. Awful service for high service prices.

Took my daughter to lunch here over the Christmas holidays. The ambience is wonderful and the location on Bloor is fantastic. The food is above average – it was the eggs benedict and florentine for us... it came served with a scanty fried spuds on the side and arrived luke warm. The mimosas were more that the dish ($14 each)... More

La Societe reminds us very much of the famous brasseries in Paris. The décor is authentic, the atmosphere lively. The menu suits us as well, weather it be a "casse croute" a selection of pate and salad, a simple steak frites or a slow cooked meal. We are always pleased. We've always found the staff to be very accommodating and... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
