Recommend the Squash Fritters!

Recommended by the doorman and found online. It was close so we wandered over in the rain. It was a fun looking restaurant, heaving with young people enjoying an evening out and we were told about a 20min wait for table. They don't take bookings and we were seated promptly. 6 of us waited 30 mins to get a table at Khao San Road for lunch on a sunday. The wait was totally worth it after we tasted the delicious food. Favorite starters: squash fritters and favorite dish: khao soi with beef. The beef literally melted in my mouth....yummy!

I was there at 4.45, they open at 5, and there was alreay a lineup. I went there because they serve Khao Soi, a Northern Thai dish, which I have enjoyed in Thailand but very rarely see on restaurants menus here. It was thicker and a bit sweeter than what I have had in Thailand but it was delicious and... More

We waited for 30 minutes to get a table here because it has a great rep. The food doesn't live up to the hype. It's average at best. The papaya salad was mostly noodles with a bit of shredded papaya thrown in. The fried tofu was tasteless and came with a standard sauce that tasted like it came out of... More

This place is always busy - as such - they don't take reservations. If you get there during peak hours - you'll likely have to wait. They will take your name and number and call you when your table is ready. Tables are somewhat communal. There is a good but fast pace energy here. Not the place for a leisurely... More

Very busy Restuarant so expect to wait. The food was excellent and the service was good. We ordered papaya salad- we made the mistake of ordering this dish on the spicy side and boy was it spicy, but flavorful and delicious . We also ordered the fried tofu, pad Thai and their curried chicken rice and Thai tea- everything was great-... More

There's a great buzz to this restaurant. You can't book a table so you do need to wait a few minutes for one, but it's definitely worth it. The food was really tasty and spicy (they mean spicy when they say spicy!), and the staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend going here!

We recently went for an early dinner to Khao San Road in Toronto. Thankfully, we had a small party and were there early, so we got seated in about 10 minutes. By the time we left dinner, there was a long line of people waiting on the sidewalk for a table. It's a community table type of establishment, that is... More

We went for dinner with 7 people. We had to put our name down and they called us in half hour. The service was excellent and the food was great. We enjoyed the garlic tofu and garlic prawns. The mango salad was great. The Penang curry and the pork Prao was great. I would positively visit again

My husband went to park and the server didn't allow me to sit while the restaurant is still pretty much empty. The reason being "they can only sit full parties to be fair." Tables have to be shared and server's attitude was bad when we requested to sit at a different table.Lots people come so they don't care about customers... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
