We were excited about this small café and the French Onion Soup. When it arrived and I tried it I realized they had left the paper on the sliced cheese which they threw on top of the soup and melted. Horrible and no excuse for that really. We told the owner and he gave me a free beer although he... More

Small place, very French, quite popular with locals. Good Beef bourguignon, just average linguine (the only vegetarian meal)/ The appetizers are a bit overpriced, though the soups (French Onion, especially) are excellent. Good choice of wines. Attentive service & very friendly atmosphere.

My wife got food poisoning and there were mouse droppings in the washroom. The health department should close this place down ASAP.

Jean-Pierre Boué’s restaurant feels as though plucked from the streets of Paris and nestled onto Queen West. The patio is whimsical and hidden at the back of the restaurant. The menu is small. A daily price-fix menu is written on a blackboard which includes a choice of an appetizer, an entrée and a dessert. Not being a dessert person I... More

Service was slow and horrible. The owner was nonexistent. What should have been a wonderful, charming experience turned into a big disappointment. This restaurant puts to shame all other bistros in the city. Keep your money or go to the other restaurants on ossington! I would also recommend that the owner purchase a better ventilation system.

If my 20-year-old son tried to make me gourmet dinner and came up with the food they served, I would have said excellent. The food was indecisive, ungarnished, slopped on the plate with no vegetables. It reminded me of something grandpa put together to feed friends because grandma was sick. Edible for sure, but at $170 for three people, it... More

1 January, 2012, in the morning. Last night we went with friends and family to enjoy New Years Eve at Lafayette Bistro on Queen Street West. What a disaster! Probably the best part of the evening was the guitarist and the singing around the tables. In our friends/family party we called ahead individually two and three days before to order... More

I had a great dinner at Lafayette Bistro this weekend. Although there were a few mix ups, the service was terrific. Very friendly - not the usual hipster distain I'm used to in this neighbourhood. The owner came by more than once to make sure we were satisfied with our meal, and we had a nice conversation about his home... More

The seabass in anis broth is fabulous, as is the steak frites. Seriously, try the fish...you'll simply rave about it too. The steak frites is a good value, as (chef and co-owner) Jean Pierre told me he couldn't get the right kind of quality for the usually cheaper cut, so he upgraded the meat. Nice. There are, however, some challenges... More

We had purchased a $60 voucher from dealfind for this restaurant. I was expecting a "Bistro" type of environment and found a "Dinner" type. There were only 5 customers seated in the entire restaurant. When we presented the voucher, we were told that the voucher would not work, because we did not have reservations, but if we wanted to pay... More
