Great restaurant - but an expensive one

I was here on Saturday . Me and my friends had no complaints. But we did have a discussion - which concluded with that this is fine dining - very expensive for the proportion you get. After dinner we went to another establishment to fill our hunger holes. Great food but value is questionable.

Saturday night with friends at this restaurant was not the best first impression. A large group of friends. Dinner was served 3 hours after we arrived. Way too late. The service staff wasn't happy or friendly. Over priced drinks and sub par food. Received bread that was defrosted and hard to tear away from the loaf. The salad needs more... More

Dear Anonymous Reviewer, One would expect that if you were going to spew out a review chock full of lies that you would at least have the common courtesy to identify yourself. That being said, after dealing with your group this past Saturday expecting any sort of courtesy or social grace is the last thing we would anticipate. If we... More

Tuesday night great specials I have to agree. The place was relatively busy but no tables got turned. .. Maybe because of the half price wine or maybe because the kitchen takes there time! Service was pleasant nothing to write about. Unfortunately a no go for the vegetarians as they have nothing but a salad on their menu!! Chef was... More

Brought some out of town friends here last night. They said it was the best food they'd ever eaten in a restaurant. (One of the friends is a first rate cook!) The oysters were so fresh and delicious that we ate 14 each, and only stopped because the other menu items were so tempting. Great vibe, beautiful people and amazing... More

This is my 5th time coming for Tuesday night Buck a shuck and Lobster Boil ($22). I can't get enough. All bottles are half price too so the best fine dining dinner deal in Toronto on a Tuesday night. Tonight the oysters were from PEI and delicious! Lobsters were so good 2 of our male guests ordered 1 more each.... More

We were in the city for the night and happened upon Boehmer accidentally while looking for a place to eat dinner. The restaurant was pretty full and the atmosphere was to our liking. We discovered that lobster was $22, oysters $1 each, and wine 1/2 price...a bonus! The service was prompt and our waitress friendly, engaging us in conversation. Everything... More

I am not one to write reviews but I felt compelled here as have NEVER been more unhappy with service at a restaurant. I took 16 people here to celebrate my birthday and we were treated like peasants from the moment we arrived. The waitstaff were cold and unwelcoming. Scoffed when one person mentioned a food allergy and then scolded... More

As others have mentioned wine by the bottle only, is half price and buck a shuck for oysters, you can't go wrong! The wine list is relatively extensive but there are only a few reasonably priced bottles, so Tuesdays is your bet. The bottle of wine which I selected at regular price is about 4 times LCBO price. I guess that's... More

A friend and I came here for dinner on. Saturday night. This restaurant is on the higher end and in a trendy neighborhood so we expected the service to reflect the environment. I'm a vegetarian so after looking through the menu and not finding a vegetarian option I asked the server for advice. He proceeded to read me the list... More

This was perhaps the sixth time I've been to Bohmer. I keep coming back on Tuesdays for the oysters - "buck a shuck" and half-price bottles of wine. I've never been anything less than extremely pleased with the food and the service -- always cheerful and well-informed. My server this time raved about my wine choice -- a white Alsatian,... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
