Great place to go on a Tuesday night

As others have mentioned wine by the bottle only, is half price and buck a shuck for oysters, you can't go wrong! The wine list is relatively extensive but there are only a few reasonably priced bottles, so Tuesdays is your bet. The bottle of wine which I selected at regular price is about 4 times... read more

We were in the city for the night and happened upon Boehmer accidentally while looking for a place to eat dinner. The restaurant was pretty full and the atmosphere was to our liking. We discovered that lobster was $22, oysters $1 each, and wine 1/2 price...a bonus! The service was prompt and our waitress friendly, engaging us in conversation. Everything... More

I am not one to write reviews but I felt compelled here as have NEVER been more unhappy with service at a restaurant. I took 16 people here to celebrate my birthday and we were treated like peasants from the moment we arrived. The waitstaff were cold and unwelcoming. Scoffed when one person mentioned a food allergy and then scolded... More

A friend and I came here for dinner on. Saturday night. This restaurant is on the higher end and in a trendy neighborhood so we expected the service to reflect the environment. I'm a vegetarian so after looking through the menu and not finding a vegetarian option I asked the server for advice. He proceeded to read me the list... More

This was perhaps the sixth time I've been to Bohmer. I keep coming back on Tuesdays for the oysters - "buck a shuck" and half-price bottles of wine. I've never been anything less than extremely pleased with the food and the service -- always cheerful and well-informed. My server this time raved about my wine choice -- a white Alsatian,... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here! It was 'buck a schuck' night and the wine bottles were half price! We enjoyed 6 oysters from Nova Scotia and a bottle of wine for 50.00 that was regularly $100.00. The food took awhile to come out but it was fresh and cooked perfectly.

Pros: - nice ambience - spacious dining room, good for large parties - the foie gras was pretty impressive Cons: - for the price paid rest of the dishes were mediocre. I expected to be wow-ed but really found not much special you in the other meals (got a chance to sample what the others were having). - staff were... More

We loved the ambiance of the restaurant ,you can see them in the kitchen like a symphony of co ordinatio. The wines by the glass are great and compared to high end restaurants great tasting no gouging here! I had the oysters and flank steak yummy does not say enough, and the French fries are the best I have had... More

Went to Boehmer on Ossington last Saturday night. We will never be back. The wait staff are apathetic, and after 1 hour and 20 minutes of no main course, and worse, no acknowledgment of our wait from anyone, we should have left….the manager finally came over, not to apologize, but to give us excuses, like "the kitchen is backed up!"... Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
