Plenty of grape juice to wash down the food

After a busy few weeks over the Festive period, running after 3 yr old boys, siblings and parents, my partner and I decided to treat ourselves-on the recommendation of my brother and his wife (after they had read on a local blog/article). Every time I have been to Enoteca Sociale I have never been dissapointed. Menu is relatively limited but oh so good, fresh and simple. Classic Italian place with great service. Arancinis and majority of pasta dishes are amazing.

Took me a while to find the restaurant as it was dark and the sign was hard to read. However, I was glad I persevered as the experience was excellent. Limited but excellent menu, I had smoked pasta! A wonderful wine pairing and slightly grilled tuna tartar lightly drizzled with the best olive oil I have ever tasted. I used... More

This is the best restaurant. Everything is made fresh in house. Right down to the incredible bread they serve. I always ask the waitress/ waiter for their suggestion and go with that. You won't be disappointed.

What a fabulous restaurant. Went on a Monday evening, sat at the bar and had dinner. Jodi, our server / bartender was excellent. Very attentive, knowledgeable about the foods and wines, helpful with recommendations. We had several appetizers and some wines. The bread is exquisite, made on site. The seared tuna, the buffalo cheese, the pasta, simply delicious. A warm,... More

the best thing on the menu is the rapini, the pasta dishes are okay but some are quite bland. the wine list is impressive but way overpriced. too much of a foodie attitude here which does not mean great food. sick of wait staff trying to be the star attraction. it should always be about the customer.

I was really excited to try this place because I love Italian and the reviews were outstanding. The experience was lackluster. We tried a bunch of menu items and while some were amazing (the gnocchi!) some were beyond salty. We also found our server (an older gentleman) to be a little arrogant and dismissive of our concerns. When we told... More

Agreed I don't go out all that often but this is a place that my wife and I have gone to and will find ourselves going back to time and again. We first went several years ago during Truffel season and of course had their truffle meal, as well as got the t-shirt (no seriously they gave us a t-shirt... More

Had the smoked spaghetti and cheese board. The staff were very helpful in making sure to check which cheese were made from raw milk because my friend is pregnant. The cheese board was presented beautifully and was delicious. My pasta dish was smoky, savoury and nicely prepared. Great neighbourhood restaurant.

I was here a year ago while in town and went twice, it was so good. Upon return, I ensured I went again and I was not disappointed. It is still excellent.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
