Good food but too loud!

Four of us went out to celebrate three birthdays and while we enjoyed the food we could not enjoy each other's company because the noise level made it impossible for us to hear each other talk.

Loved It. Authentic french style. I had smoked trout (better than IKEA!!!!), rabbit dijonese (one was perfect, the other slightely dry), and ginger cake (fantastic). Also recommend Steak Hache. Service was perfect, and atmoshphere was great except Edith Piaf was always playing, which got slightely annoying by the end of our meal.

Visiting My son in Toronto means a visit to Union. The atmosphere is busy and food never fails to satisfy. I love being able to walk in the city to great restaurant. This time I had the burger and friets. Nice bottle of wine my son and his girlfriend enjoyed the meal look forward to my next visit.

Went here Saturday night with another couple. We had the charcuterie platter (two types sliced meats with pickled jalapeños, sliced pickles, habanero sauce, and two types of mustard.) It was fine, but not exciting. We also had elk sliders (tasty), steak tartare (never had that before, it was ok tasting...a bit cold. I didn't love it, but it was good).... More

Popped in on the off chance they had a table available. Nice welcome and shown straight to a table. It was busy so had a good atmosphere and the food was great. Watch out for the green stuff on the chips and Mayo - it blows your head off ;-)

This restaurant is a mixture of good vibe, great food, cozy place and happy people. Everything I've tried was prepared beautifully and tasted amazing. I would recommend palenta baked with goat cheese and tomato sauce and also you must try steak tartare. It's divine. Union became my favourite place to eat.

Nice venue. Stopped by on the way to the airport. Bar at the front, small restaurant toward the rear and a shaded patio at the back. The dishes on offer were uncomplicated: white crab omelette, burger, steak et frite. The squash soup was delicious - it came with a parsley, lemon and garlic mix and some soured cream. The only... Last night I had dinner on my own and decided to have that at the bar of Union; not a bad choice at all. Great food; how good can it het with a champagne cocktail, oysters, steak tartare and a chocolate fondant tart. Nice staff with just enough attention.

A friend took us here for Sunday brunch telling us it was one of the best in Toronto (and he's a chef!) and we weren't disappointed! It's very busy so be prepared for a wait. But everyone's food was delicious! I couldn't help but look at plates brought to other tables because it all looked so good!! I had the... More

Very odd experience night July 29, 2015. Went to dinner with three other friends (all women) and as we entered the restaurant the rude bartender told us that it would be an hour and a half for a seat outside and if it rains they wouldn't have room to seat us inside! As an American who is used to customer... More

Neighborhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
