Pleasant Surprise Indeed

After visiting a friend in a local hospital, searched for a decent place to have lunch. What a find!! We were thrilled to find such a wonderful 'foodies' paradise - right in the heart of the city! My husband ordered the steak tartare (which surprised me!) and he said it was the best he ever had... read more

Feel like I shouldn't write this or more people will know. I had dinner there recently for the first time. I'd heard about it for a while and finally ended up going. Had no idea there was a patio in the back. This is a great spot for a quiet dinner. Grab a bottle of wine and enjoy some amazing... More

This is probably one of the best restaurants Ive ever been too. Its a small venue that serves all local foods, with a new menu everyday. Everything is fresh, and full of flavour. I would definitely recommend visiting this venue for a gathering, date, or for drinks. The only thing I didn't like as much was that it is crowded,... More

First time at Union and will come back for dinner to experience its menu. We walked by its storefront and it was dark. We asked if it was open as we saw no one in the front of the restaurant but when the hostess/server confirmed that it was open, she offered the outside patio or stay inside. The patio was... More

We were lookomg for a casual place to eat on Ossington and went into Union which we had heard about many times. We started with the peach salad done with buffalo mozzarella and it was outstanding. Next we tried the cauliflower soup with almonds which was terrific with just enough bite to awaken your sense of taste and dined on... More

This place was great. We got to the restaurant almost an hour before they opened for lunch but they still served us coffee, bloody caesars, and mimosas while we waited. The food was fantastic. I had the polenta cake and it was rich and so worth the wait! Loved sitting on the patio in the nice summer weather.

This was our first foray into the Ossington Ave. restaurant mecca. I did my research on T.A. and we were not disappointed. As it was a beautiful summer evening, we ate on the patio, which is tucked away under a towering elm tree. Our waiter was from Perth Australia and he was charming, warm and fun. We shared the Union... More

In fact... the whole meal was a pretentious disaster. While neighbours were sighing in delight which makes me suspect that sometimes in Toronto you just need to put an indecent price tag on a dish served with a little hipsterization to fool the clientele. I had the "moules marinieres", the halibut and rhubarb ice-cream: - The mussels were not of... More

I have been four times now, and consistently the (daily changing) menu was thoughtfully put together; the execution and presentation of the dishes excellent, the service informal but warmly welcoming without ever being over-bearing, and the small, quirky outdoor dining area is a little urban charm all its own! In a neighbourhood and area (and city) well stocked with distinctive,... More

This was my second time eating here, first we had a table in the restaurant, and this time at the bar at the front. The barman was super friendly and made me an off list cocktail (thank you!) as we ordered the Elk Sliders and Ribs to share. Ginger Cake for desert (you have to get it, it's the best... More
