This was our first foray into the Ossington Ave. restaurant mecca. I did my research on T.A. and we were not disappointed. As it was a beautiful summer evening, we ate on the patio, which is tucked away under a towering elm tree. Our waiter was from Perth Australia and he was charming, warm and fun. We shared the Union... More

In fact... the whole meal was a pretentious disaster. While neighbours were sighing in delight which makes me suspect that sometimes in Toronto you just need to put an indecent price tag on a dish served with a little hipsterization to fool the clientele. I had the "moules marinieres", the halibut and rhubarb ice-cream: - The mussels were not of... More

I have been four times now, and consistently the (daily changing) menu was thoughtfully put together; the execution and presentation of the dishes excellent, the service informal but warmly welcoming without ever being over-bearing, and the small, quirky outdoor dining area is a little urban charm all its own! In a neighbourhood and area (and city) well stocked with distinctive,... More

This was my second time eating here, first we had a table in the restaurant, and this time at the bar at the front. The barman was super friendly and made me an off list cocktail (thank you!) as we ordered the Elk Sliders and Ribs to share. Ginger Cake for desert (you have to get it, it's the best... More

Necessary to reserve although we did not and we ended up at the 6 seat bar with view at the kitchen. Which was nice. We chose an excellent Canadian Pinot noir. Never ever saw it in any other country, maybe they keep it to themselves. Elm skewers are great, steak haché très bien and the polenta was one of the... More

Congratulations to the owners and managers of this fabulous restaurant on Ossington Avenue. I was on a trip to Toronto visiting friends who, luckily for me, knew this gem. The quality of the cooking was great, as was the atmosphere (we ate outside) and the service (our two servers were wonderful - relaxed and knowledgable). I can't praise this place... More

My husband and I landed at Union earlier this week after finding the restaurant we had set out for, closed. It was a Monday night, but Union was hopping. We waited for a table out back on the patio and it was worth the wait. The patio has a great vibe and the staff were friendly and fun. The menu... More

My husband and I have been coming here since the restaurant first opened, and we lived in Dufferin Grove. Favourites are the steak frittes and the ribs. They usually have an excellent selection of oysters as an app... But if no, the steak tartare is excellent and the union salad is great too. Everything about this place makes me happy.... More

Union Restaurant (no, it's not called Union 72!) is located smack in the middle of the up-and-coming Ossington neighbourhood. It has an unassuming entrance but don't let that fool you. The main dining room is small (about ten tables) but has a great atmosphere. However, the place to be on a warm summer's evening is the very private back patio.... More
