Very good food and service

All portions of the meal were very good from the appetizer to desert. Service was entertaining as you get way more attention than usual.

The food at Carisma is very good but the service is amazing. The servers were very attentive without being annoying. They knew the dishes well and were charming. We had reservations for 9:30pm on a Saturday and thought that perhaps it would be kind empty given the time and financial district location but it was packed. Even so the restaurant... More

The restaurant was busy but our table was ready for us. It is a little noisy but we find that as the norm for Italian restaurants. Just part of the atmosphere. The starters were great. Beef carpaccio, sea scallops and tuna tartare were all tasty and not too filling. We all had the Orriechietta with spicy sausage which was very... More

Got suckered into going here with work collegues. Made me realise why I disliked it so much in past. Overpriced food, mediocre flavors and service with an attitude. Blah!

My wife and I have been meaning to try this restaurant for awhile as we moved into the area awhile ago. We were thrilled with the food. From the classic grilled calamari with olive and tomato, tagliatelle with truffle and the osso bucco Milanese everything was spot on. However what really thrilled me was the professional and friendly service. A... More

Came for a business lunch. Wanted to try this place for a while as it's always packed on my walk home from work. It was a full-house for lunch so clearly a popular place. Complimentary warm bread in olive oil and rosemary, absolutely delicious. The best thing about this restaurant is the service: very attentive, friendly, without being intrusive. Our... More

Went here with my family for my birthday. The staff are so friendly and funny and really make it feel like a special experience, as does the atmosphere. The food is also unbelievable. When we asked them to recommend a wine they brought us a great bottle which was also one of the more reasonably priced ones aka didn't try... More

Carisma is a very nice experience with over the top levels of service. It is a not a particularly big place, but there were at least ten service people of staff on the Saturday night we were there. Probably half of whom stopped by our table at some point. But service is only as good as the food and we... More

Service was excellent and the food too. Pasta appropriately al dente. Everything well prepared. Good wine selection too.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
