Brunch is amazing

I really enjoyed this restaurant. It's tucked into a quiet neighborhood and has an off-the-beaten path feel. The food on the brunch menu was incredible. I had the pollo loco sandwich and my friend had the beastwich. We were both really pleased. I would strongly recommend this place.

I really like this place. The atmosphere is laid back and the service is the same, which I really liked. The food was absolutely gorgeous from the oysters to beets, trout, hocks and Canadian wines. There are not enough adjectives for this place - cross your fingers you can get a reservation and GO!!

It is a bit off the beaten track for location and food and we consider that a good thing. We were there on a wednesday with the wines 50% off (we did not know but it was a pleasant surprise). Nice patio. Highly recommended.

I was surprised that it was small plates. The server explained it very well. And did a good job overall. The selection was good and things came out hot. The Pork Hock was the hit. One thing that was a bit underwhelming was the pickles. I had a Rum Punch and would never gave it again but my wife's Cider... More

We had to wait a little over 30 minutes for a table for 4 on a Sunday afternoon, outisde in the rain! But was worth it. Everyone had great food and this place lived up to its reputation.

I saw this on Anthony Bourdain's 30 Hours in Toronto show and was surely not disappointed at brunch. My only concern is that if you have a picky eater in your party their menu is eclectic! I ordered the Challah French Toast with duck confit, cranberry sauce and creme fraiche. At first I wasn't sure what to think: duck on... More

Beast is a small place serving interesting and great tasting small plates. You would not think that some of the combinations would go together but they do. Wednesday night is half price bottled wine night! Service was very friendly.

Interesting menu choices. If you have a picky eater in your group they may have a difficult time finding something to eat. I wish I could give half-points because the food was definitely above "average" but I also wouldn't say it was "very good". It wasn't busy when we went, but we heard that sometimes there are lineups that wait... More

Came here on Mothers Day and had an absolutely amazing brunch. We arrived 15 minutes before they opened and thank goodness we did because the lineup was starting at that time. We started off trying each of the donuts. Almond bourbon, caramel chocolate, rhubarb and maple bacon. Each one was absolutely incredible. I wanted to go back for more later.... More

Two friends and I had plans to visit the theatre (Ronnie Burkett's "Daisy Theatre" at Factory Theatre, Queen and Bathurst area) and wanted to grab a bite to eat, beforehand. After a Google searches we decided on Beast. What a GREAT decision. I was delighted when I pulled up in front of the restaurant - a modest yet funky building... More

Staying in Queen Street and West Queen West

Neighborhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
