We had been laughingly warned about the upbeat wait-staff before our visit but it was still a surprise to walk in to a chorus of friendly shouts from the waiters. We were seated immediately, however it would have been no chore to wait in their cocktail area. The menu was a little overwhelming at first, but a quick glance around... More

Good was delicious and well seasoned. Had the deep fried shrimp (to die for), tuna tartare, bibimbap and short ribs - all were delicious. Service was speedy and atmosphere was fun. The only other thing I could've asked for was sushi but this is not a sushi restaurant so that's understandable. Loved it!

Unusual but delicious Japanese style food. If you like Japanese you must try this place. Be ready for a noisy fun place.

Had a great meal at Guu while I was visiting Toronto. There was a bit of a wait to get in, as it seems quite popular. Upon entering you're shouted at in welcome by the staff prior to being seated. We were lucky enough to get a lovely table outside where it wasn't quite so loud. The food is various... More

Casual Japanese dining, with lots of young people from the nearby University. Can be loud, as the kitchen is out front. Good sharing menu

What a great place to celebrate a family birthday. Both a delicious and entertaining experience, this is a great place to experiment with a variety of Japanese dishes. There was a lineup outside when we left and I can definitely understand why. When we go back to Toronto we will be sure to visit GUU again. Be sure to use... More

The food here was really nice, but a bit expensive as the portions are only tapas sized, and you need quite a few if you are going for dinner. But I would not go back here as it is deafeningly noisy. Probably OK if you are young and noisy yourself, no fun if you want to go for dinner and... More

The food is very good, flavourful and unique. The service is friendly. It can get very loud since the staff yell greetings to every party but once you get used to it, it's a pretty cool experience

We had a group dinner here last weekend, and the experience was...unique. So the premise of the restaurant, I guess, is to emulate the izakaya style of establishment found in Japan where people go to drink and nibble on food on the side. As one of our friends explained from his experience living in Japan, the servers will say a... More
