Not your standard Indian fare - so much better

Having eaten and loved Indian food around the world I was blown away by the quality of the food at 259 Host. The sea bass curry was flavourful, fresh and completely delicious. A truly crave worthy dish. The naan was as good as it gets. The samosas were crispy and delicious. If you love Indian... read more

I had heard that Toronto has a vibrant Indian community, so I was eager to try a local Indian restaurant. Our hotel recommended 259 Host, so we went without a reservation. After a 20-minute wait, we were seated and ordered. Our mango lassis were deliciously creamy, tart and sweet; our samosas were crispy and deliciously seasoned, accompanied by a spicy... More

My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this little gem, after a long day at Pan Am. We arrived around 9:30 and we were greeted by a very friendly hostess. This was my girlfriends first experience with Indian food. We ordered Mimosa's and it was hands down the freshest and best I had ever had. Our Main meal was butter chicken,... More

We were staying at the Marriott Residence Inn next door and decided to try this restaurant based on positive reviews. We waited about 5 minutes for a table, as the restaurant was quite busy. The decor was lovely and the service was warm and friendly. Our server had excellent suggestions. We had the butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, and the... More

I had a nice time dinning at this restaurant, the food was great and the stuff was very helpful. The restaurant's location is in a very convenient, if you are going downtown for a concert or for the Jays. I am definitely going back there.

Went to this restaurant for dinner last night in TO. We had a chicken dish with 25 spices (can't remember what it was called) and palak paneer with rice and naan. The chicken dish was made with boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a spicy non- greasy tomato based sauce topped with freshly grated ginger. It was delicious. The palak paneer... More

We found this place because it was directly adjacent to our hotel and because of rain, we did not want to venture too far. That said, I'm glad it rained! The hospitality, atmosphere and the food were all quite comforting. We were there over a week ago so we don't really remember what we ordered. As a vegetarian, I recall... More

There are lots of Indian restaurants, but far fewer really good ones. The menu is varied and the dishes make really interesting use of spices. Service can be a little slow but unless you're in a hurry this place is going to be a winner.

We went to the location at 19 Prince Arthur in Toronto, We were there for the Summerlicious fare. The food at all the Host locations is very good however I am not sure if we would have been better off ordering from their ala carte menu. We were 5 in our party our bill was over $100.00 the portions for... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
