Great atmosphere

I feel a little bit of a fraud writing this review as we only stopped off here for a quick drink -well with name like that who wouldnt! Restaurant style downstairs but upstairs a snug area with its own bar. A clear lean towards football here but leaving that aside a very cozy spot with an excellent... read more

Went for lunch and had a good experience overall. The food was decent and pint selection ok - would recommend for those who wish to have a low key setting with hearty food.

Our first experience with this establishment was one year prior to this one. My wife and I, along with two other couples were in Toronto for our annual Christmas show, and dinner. My wife had visited the establishment with colleagues while attending a medical conference nearby. She (and they) raved about the food and the ambiance. On our trip in... More

We walked in at 5:45 on a weeknight for a quick dinner. There wasn't a table immediately available so we offered to wait or go upstairs to the more casual part of the restaurant. My friend had her sleeping 3 month old with her. The hostess said "this isn't really the place for a young one" and proceeded to tell... More

Went to brunch here with one of my friends and I was very happy with my experience. I had the special and my friend had a typical English breakfast. I really enjoyed my food, but my friend didn't really enjoy hers. The atmosphere was nice and the service was friendly. Would recommend!

I visit Toronto often for work. I was wondering around looking for a different place to eat. I stumble upon this little gem and was so glad I did. The atmosphere is so quaint and comfortable, the food is amazing and the service was awesome. The menu itself is small, but very interesting. If you are in Toronto area, this... More

Amazing food and service again. The perfect pint and great food. Had dinner and a few pints with out of town family. Burgers and mushroom pie thingy was perfectly cooked. Will recommend to everyone.

I'm not usually one for pubs in Toronto but this place is very much like the gastropubs in the UK! A lovely cozy spot with amazing fish and chips.

The Queen and Beaver offers a real English pub experience. The decor and atmosphere are pleasant and the food is very good. I do wish it offered a wider range of beers, however.

Full disclosure: I live in Toronto, so I have more than just visited the Queen and Beaver, I come here quite a lot. In a city where pubs as far as the eye can see provide deep-fried chicken wings, gooey plates of nachos and Bud Light on tap, the Queen and Beaver is a stand out - actually, a class... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
