Downtown Toronto ?? Could be anywhere in the UK !

This bar was conveniently located near my hotel -- so decided to stop by. Pleased I did because it is a gem of a find. So typical a UK bar !! Great attentive (honest) service, small menu with a nice selection so you should not struggle to find something to eat. Nice beer selection -- although... read more

Hang out upstairs on the balcony. Great fish and chips and traditional English style. Recommend the scotch egg and side of glazed carrots. Relax enjoy a pint, good food, and cool home style English home.

This is a pub-restaurant bustling with character. It feels like you are in somebody's house with coat hooks in the hallway and many original-looking features intact The balcony area gives you a great view of the street below and in the late summer heat it's nice to be in the open air Four of us popped in and sank a... This place is in a neat area of Toronto. We sat inside upstairs but you can also sit outside upstairs which seemed pretty nice. Good burgers and fish and chips. This is the kind of place you can hang out in with a few friends and play cards, tell stories and sip some beer while grubbing on some good food.... More

My colleague, Darin, and I always hunt out the best burger joint nearby in our business travels. We stayed at the Marriott Eaton Centre, down Bay Street roughly a 5 minute walk away. Opens at 10am on the weekends for brunch, but lo and behold they serve the burger at all times when they are open. If you want a... More

We came here for drinks after dinner from a few streets away The building is charming and the service is correct. Good, noble drinks. If in the area, this will be an option for coming for quiet drinks with friends that want to chat.

This is one of my favourite pubs in Toronto. Off the menu I've had the following: Haddock and Chips - delicious chips! Love the curry ketchup! Kedgeree - tastey curry based rice Salmon on Russian Rye - the salmon is smoked in house and the bread is made at the pub Roast Turkey Sandwich with horseradish and spicy mustard (had... More

They offer you coffee in mismatched coffee mugs which I think makes the place cozier. However, the food was average. The grilled grapefruit was a nice touch.

It's difficult to find a decent English style pub in Canada but this was probably one of the closest. We were stopping at the Chelsea Hotel and this is just over the road. It looks small from the outside with a bit of outdoor seating, but upstairs there is a lovely indoor lounge bar with more outdoor seating on the... More

Went to this place on my first and last day in Toronto (it was across the road from my hotel). Food was brilliant and so was the beer!

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
