Sweet potato fries!

Melanie's bistro was our first experience in Toronto and we loved it. The Sweet potato fries were AMAZING, followed by lovely wine and mains. We were just sad that we were too full to try dessert!

Earlier today my parents were in Toronto and I thought I'd treat them to this very rare "needle in a haystack" restaurant. Having lived along the danforth, and in the general area for over 3 years, I can say undoubtedly that this place is a rare find for its location. Its location is a slight contrast to that of Greek... Our family loves going to Melanie's Bistro, we can always be assured of great food with interesting ingredients and wonderful presentation. We have been going to Melanie's since it opened and we are so happy it's here in our neighbourhood. Their menu selection, though not extensive, is very eclectic and interesting, which I believe is why their food is so... More

I was expecting a lot more from what I had heard from friends but it was over $200 with one bottle of house wine. I thought we would leave satisfied but the $8 fries were a little expensive for the locale.

Booked a table for Friday night for 3 people had to wait nearly an hour for our starters. Then after waiting a long time for our main meal, many other tables had come in eaten and left. Wait staff very apologetic. Food was ok too many pasta dishes on new menu

I've walked by this restaurant many times last year. This year, I went for lunch in Jan. Loved it, service excellent, potato soup yummy, Indian wrap delish! Decided to try again last week and same server, patient and good customer service. I ordered the soup which was squash and same wrap a before, both were very good. My BF ordered... More

Two old friends wanted to introduce us to two of their friends and they picked the restaurant. It felt good the minute we entered -- very warm and alive; i think it's the eclectic but lively art all over the walls. They also have the WOW factor down. Shortly after ordering, a server brought us smoked salmon with a sprinkling... More

Everything on the dinner menu at Melanie's sounds salivating. Having been here before and knowing that everything is sensational, I chose the "Bangers & Smash". It was truly exquisite. Both the pheasant and wild boar sausage each had their own distinct flavor, complemented perfectly by the gourmet potatoes and broccoli. For dessert, I usually order the "Crème brûlée" without hesitation,... More

Staying in East York

Neighborhood Profile
East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
