A definite must try!

I've walked by this restaurant many times last year. This year, I went for lunch in Jan. Loved it, service excellent, potato soup yummy, Indian wrap delish! Decided to try again last week and same server, patient and good customer service. I ordered the soup which was squash and same wrap a before... read more

I was expecting a lot more from what I had heard from friends but it was over $200 with one bottle of house wine. I thought we would leave satisfied but the $8 fries were a little expensive for the locale.

Booked a table for Friday night for 3 people had to wait nearly an hour for our starters. Then after waiting a long time for our main meal, many other tables had come in eaten and left. Wait staff very apologetic. Food was ok too many pasta dishes on new menu

Two old friends wanted to introduce us to two of their friends and they picked the restaurant. It felt good the minute we entered -- very warm and alive; i think it's the eclectic but lively art all over the walls. They also have the WOW factor down. Shortly after ordering, a server brought us smoked salmon with a sprinkling... More

Everything on the dinner menu at Melanie's sounds salivating. Having been here before and knowing that everything is sensational, I chose the "Bangers & Smash". It was truly exquisite. Both the pheasant and wild boar sausage each had their own distinct flavor, complemented perfectly by the gourmet potatoes and broccoli. For dessert, I usually order the "Crème brûlée" without hesitation,... More

Each and all of the dishes looked good. We were a group of eight, in for Sunday brunch. The person on my left ordered huevos rancheros. To my right, crab cakes Benedict was ordered. I went for the Belgian waffles, with whipped cream, fruit and maple syrup. Reports of blandness came from each side of me. I was one of... More

I give this place a 3.5 stars. I've been for brunch, as well as for dinner. The Brunch - overpriced for what you get. There's also a slight odd taste to everything on the plate .. I couldn't figure it out until I guessed it was the oil that is used. The newfoundland breakie is what I tend to order,... More

Dinner was great. Had a buckwheat pasta green thai curry. Amazing. Our waiter was also fantastic. Will be back for sure.

First impression is that this isn't an overly fancy place but the food is amazing. There aren't a lot of choices on the menu but there's enough variety. Place was busy at lunch! Omelet was delicious and a great homemade burger - don't get those too often. Service was excellent. Coffee was great - nothing negative at all. Reasonably priced... More

Staying in East York

Neighborhood Profile
East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
