Get the window seat

Snag the window seat if you can otherwise it gets way too loud on Friday or sat to hear your dinner companions. The burger is my favourite. I rarely eat burgers unless they are from a upscale restaurant...and this one is dirty and fabulous.

Besides the almighty burger, the last time I was here I tried a bunch of different things: We started with oysters and then we had the broccoli salad. Who would think that broccoli could be that tasty and crispy! The rigatoni was simply amazing. Great texture and delicious flavor. Finally, the rib-eye, which, in my opinion, for $38 is one of... This was my 5th time at the Harbord Room. Went again last night for their used-to-be great burger. Never again. Where do I start? - Sloppy presentation of the food...fit for a sloppy joe, not a gourmet burger. It actually looked microwaved - the meat was gross...bit into 2 pea-sized cartilage chunks in the patty. Automatic turn-off - fries were... More

Our waiter was very attentive to all our requests. The octopus, the oysters and the broccoli salad appetizers were all excellent and a good size. The half chicken, the scallops and clams and the halibut main courses were fabulous. But, the desserts were all to die for!

Bistro style food, excellent quality served in a quaint setting. Backyard garden is where to sit if weather is willing. What I really loved is that the food (and cocktails) are first rate, but no issues with snobby service. Just the opposite, very engaging waiter, friendly, funny and just the right amount of presence. All in all a great place... More

My experience of the Harbord Room is nothing short of awesome! I have been here by myself, during a business trip to Toronto. I researched a little and found this restaurant on several sites, it's never at the top spot but I thought it could have been a good pick. Well my instinct was wrong... It's not good, it's AWESOME!... More

We showed up at the restaurant on a Thursday evening at 9pm and the place was hopping. The hostess was very polite and seated us at the bar, as the tables were full. However, when a reservation didn't show, she came over and asked if we would like a table. We had Borani, a yogurt based, dip that was fresh... More

Meat lovers rejoice! Today is National Burger Day. Toronto boasts many restaurants with excellent burgers. My favourite burger, in particular, can be found at The Harbord Room. The narrow and intimate restaurant prepares select international dishes from charred leek and eggplant borani with za'atar, pomegranate seeds and crispy pita ($9) to house-made rigatoni with spicy sausage ($17). However, the dry-aged... More

My wife and I and another couple had the pleasure of having dinner at Harbord Room. We were met with a big smile, escorted to our table and briefed on the night's offerings. Kahlin, our server, was outstanding. She knew the menu, answered questions and was very engaging. Outstanding food, outstanding service and a cozy atmosphere. It is on our... More

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!! The atmosphere is brilliant. We sat at the corner of the bar, the stalls are super comfortable, the food is totally delicious and the drinks are beyond brilliant! I had the burger. Now if your a burger lover I would say this is one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. So juicy and flavourful!... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
