Excellent food, friendly service. Long meal!

We dined as a last-minute party of eight. We were loud and disruptive to service, no doubt, and many in the party enjoyed wine (one even spilling it which the staff patiently handled). So I do not blame the servers for letting us "take our time." I have also found when traveling in Canada that... read more

Was just ok. Liked the house made tonic water although the color looked a little odd. Service was pedestrian and didn't offer any explanation on dishes. Had to chase to get our waiter. Dishes were ok but small. My halibut was nice but colleagues black cod disappointing

A group of us ate at Nota Bena on a Thursday night. The food was delicious, the wine was good but the service was substandard for a restaurant in this price category. At the end of our meal, we had to flag down three different people to get our bill. Disappointing. However, to the restaurant's credit, it did comp our... More

Ate a Nota Bene last night. Its been a while since I was last there. It is a lovely room and they have a great wine list. But...while the food looks pretty it lacks soul. The flavours were lacklustre with no attempt to challenge. It is a plague with Toronto business type restaurants... They are unimaginative and safe... Read: boring.... More

On a wickedly cold day in Toronto for late March I was delighted to get to the warmth of Note Bene. The service was friendlier than one might expect and the waitress had a real pleasant personality and made the visit very nice for my colleague and I. The food was well prepared and presented. The restaurant was pricey but... More

Great dinner at Nota Bene last night with friends. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Their recommendations were all excellent. Everyone was very happy with their orders. I ordered the duck salad and the tenderloin. Both were amazing. 3 people ordered the halibut and said it was excellent. 2 had the cavatelli and loved it. For desert the toffee... More

First off, our waiter and the staff were fantastic and attentive! The food was overall good but not blow my socks off- highlights were Brussel sprouts and duck salad-- the dishes that were mediocre: calamari and scallops and caramel truffles that my husband ordered (personal preference re: scallops- I didn't like the sauce under them- it was creamy and tasteless... Had an amazing dinner here last night. The cavatelli pugiliese is the best thing I've eaten this year and I now understand why people make the trip for the sticky toffee pudding alone. Incredible service and an elegant atmosphere. I'm looking for an excuse to go back.

Went for Winterlicious and had a great lunch. Unlike other restaurants they didn't cheapen down the menu for winterlicious. For $35 we had an appetizer, main, desert, and a glass of wine. The corn soup had a subtle southwestern flavour with a crunch, Thai beef salad was light but very flavourful, and the salted caramel ice-cream a treat. While the... More

Ate here with my gf, food was top notch and the room was very well done, must have cost a fortune to set-up. For the amount we spent it wasn't great value though, about $150 for 2 for dinner and I was still hungry after, typical fine dining with small portions.
