Flaky and Delicious!

If you love flaky pastries and egg custards, this is your bakery! Love the berlin balls, drums and fresh breads baked daily!

This place has fresh bread and pastries daily, only thing is they're almost always understaffed so service lags. Still, it's nice that it's easy to get to in a pinch.

ever wonder who has the best Portuguese custard tarts? Well, look no further as Nova Era has the best... in all their locations. Oh, and not to mention, their shrimp patties are also very tasty.

My SO and I used to get bread from here every week as it is easily the best in the city, and is not very expensive. The custard tarts here are also amazing. A must if you are in the area. I can't wait to move back to Toronto and go here again.

This bakery is a hidden gem. I bought a dozen of their Portuguese Custard Tarts and handed them out to several of my colleagues. They all said it was the best tart they had ever tasted. And they only cost a little over a buck each when you buy a dozen. Great value and great taste! They have three shops... More

I went to Nova Era (980 Bloor Street W) accidentally because I was in the neighborhood before The Monkey’s Paw opened. I thought I would grab a little pastry somewhere, but this was so much better. I was kind of in a french-toast-and-giant-egg-platter trance from my first two breakfasts when I saw it because, while I was walking to it,... More

This place is always on our list when we visit Toronto:) It makes me feel like we are visiting a little piece of Portugal. The egg tarts are SO good and we enjoy the ham and cheese sandwiches and the milk and coffee drinks...unfortunately I'm not sure of the proper Portuguese words for these times:) We love bringing home more... On November 19, I decided to drop by Nova Era (corner of Dovercourt Road and Bloor Street). I was there at 8pm hoping to buy some desserts for myself. As usual, I waited at the display. A customer was being served by a lady staff member so I waited. There was a guy who was working on the Christmas décor... More

Toro to has many Portuguese bakeries, but none better than Nova Era in terms of quality and selection of their tarts and pastries. If you want to make your co-workers happy, bring in a box of these.
