Tasty meat and veggie combo platter

This was my first experience with ethopian food. We ordered the meat and veggie combo platter which is served on a large pancake like base with rolls of pancake (injera) to tear off and scoop the assortment of stews, beans and vegetables. Very flavourful and exotic.

Went to the location of this restaurant with the intention of dining at the Persian restaurant next door. Noticed this place and decided to check out the menu in the window. The owner came out and convinced us to give them a try. Over all I'm glad we did. The staff was friendly and the food was very good. However... More

Went here today with friends after work. All of us were totally disappointed. We ordered a chicken, a lamb and a beef dish and a veggie lentil dish. It took them nearly 35 minutes to get the food to the table. The beef was just alright didn't have any flavour. The lamb was over cooked dry and chewy and now... More

We loved eating at Sheba. The food was delicious and the place was really cool. The staff was very nice, but they seemed more interested in something on their iPad than checking on us. Overall great experience though!

I absolutely enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Sheba! I enjoy the fact that they carry a type of honey wine that is close to the homemade versions you find in Ethiopia. Great, great atmosphere with warm and sincere staff and the food is excellent. The location is convenient and easily accessible from downtown hotels. Another great reasonably priced Ethiopian... This was part of a conference I attended in Toronto- the option to dine around the world. I chose Ethiopian and was given instructions to walk to Sheba. The restaurant is simple, but clean and comfortable. The waitress was very nice and attentive, bringing Ethiopian honey wine, beer and keeping our water glasses full. We split plates between four people... More

Pros: I came here for lunch on a Saturday with my boyfriend. The restaurant was not full but there were a few people there. I ordered the vegetarian sample platter and it was very good. Cons: The service was very slow. I accidentley left my scarf on the chair and came back that evening to see if it was there.... More

Very nice restaurant with very good Ethiopian food. This was my first time in an Ethiopian restaurant and I enjoyed very much the Injera and the fact that you eat without cutlery. The food was very tasty. My boyfriend and I went here for lunch with a coupon 25% off but we were forced to take one vegetarian and one... More

I have visited a number of other Ethiopian restaurants in Toronto. While many have very good food, Sheba is the one I go to most regularly. For those who want to taste a variety of dishes, the customizable veggie or veggie and meat platters are ideal, and offer a great introduction to Ethiopian cuisine for beginners. For those who want... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
