Must Do because Famous and Local

If for no other reason, worth visiting for breakfast just to eat at this famous local joint. The breakfast special featured the Finnish pancakes with sausages and coffee for $6. Locals and tourists alike enjoying breakfast with very friendly staff.

This restaurant was originally opened for single bush workers that came to Canada to find there stake. Most worked in bush camps that were only accessible by train. When they came to Thunder Bay for a weekend there was no place to eat for them. It is a time machine with excellent food!!! Make sure you try the Finn pancakes!!!

Had dinner at the Hoito tonight with my mom and other family. We had fantastic Fin burgers. My mom ate here in 1956 as a newly settled refugee from Hungary for her first month in Thunder Bay. She had a friendly welcome from the Hoito. Well, 60 years later, we had the same welcome and friendly employees.... A must visit... More

It's a regular breakfast destination. It seems that you are descending into a hole, but the bright lights, friendly people, and good food tell you otherwise. Breakfast favourite with a friend: one orders an omelette while the other orders Finnish Pancakes, and you split so you get half of each. Dont forget the strawberry sauce! Oh, and their bottomless cups... More

My dad and I had breakfast here while visiting Thunder Bay. I think we read about it in the CAA travel book we had with us. It's honestly a hidden gem. It was incredibly busy there (probably because the food is so good!), but we were seated within a reasonable amount of time. The service was good. The menu had... More
