Great dining experience

Way too much appetizer but it was delish. The vegetarian main was way too bland. I loved all the light & how contemporary it was inside despite the fact that this is a building at least 150 years old. It's a converted house with a very contemporary feel to it. Service was slow but in a restaurant with prix fixe,... More

When we arrived, all staff seemed completely overwhelmed. It took a while for them to take our order for drinks and then they forgot to bring them. I had told them in advance that I am vegan and we had decided on the 4 course menu. I only ended up getting two courses. My husband got 3 but he got... More

From being greeted by Alex, then waited on by Joel, we dined in a very sophisticated space, with twists of humour embedded in the surrounding artwork ... and relaxed with friends for hours before they headed off to the theatre. 2 of 5 had appetizers: Albacore tuna and Herb Soup were solid hits - with our friend talking all next... Our reservation was for 5:15 and the service was so rapid that we were finished our apps and mains by 6 pm. The herb soup was delicious but the portion very small. My partner had the tuna which was nothing special and then the cornish hen which was good. I ordered the pickerel with steamed chard and onions. The fish... More

Great setting , welcoming staff, excellent menu description. The meals themselves tasted very poorly. Costly for what is presented. Rundles by comparison has high prices but flavours blend and excite the palate. The prune tries to hard and the method of preparation of the salmon for instance robbed it's inherent flavour / the added flavours were combative on the palate.... More

I have travelled the world and enjoyed wonderful meals in some of the finest restaurants. "The Prune" is right up there with them. I'm not kidding! Right in Stratford in the middle of Ontario. Dinner was prix fixe and very reasonably priced, especially considering the high quality of the items on the menu. To the extent possible, everything is fresh... More

Gourmet food. Not large portions but that is the way we like it. We each did the two course " prix fixe" then shared the appetizer and dessert and each had an entree. The two course " prix fixe" is $49 Canadian. The server was pleasant and knowledgeable and paced the dinner just right to get us to the theatre... More

Once again, The Prune produces. Service was exquisite and the food superb. We've visited The Prune every year when we go to the Stratford Festival and have appreciated its consistency as well as ability to adapt the menu to changing tastes and preferences by combining traditional with modern sensibilities.
