We went for late sitting last week and ended up waiting over 90 minutes after finishing our appetizers for the mains to be served ... with no real explanation or apologies ...

First of all, I wish I could give our experience a score of 4 1/2. We have wanted to eat at The Prune / The Old Prune for many years, but we usually are in Stratford after the restaurant closes for the season. The service is excellent: very knowledgeable wait staff -- formal-ish, not snobby. The choice of two-, three-,... More

We enjoyed a decadently delicious dinner at The Prune. Having not eaten here in many, many years, we were delighted to find that everything was as we remembered! The service was outstanding and our meals were perfectly prepared and presented. We chose the two course dinner, which came, as all meals do, with an amuse bouche and a petit four.... More

My expectations of this restaurant were high. Off the beaten path in Stratford this gem is a must. We arrived with out table of six and our table was not ready. So they sat us at a huge communal table for some drinks. It was nice to relax with a beer before service. Once our table was ready, Alex our... More

It looks unassuming on the outside, but it has some of the best food in Stratford. Reasonable distance to theatres, attractions and the river. Reasonably priced 2,3,4 coursed meals. All come with amuse bouche, risotto and ground cherries. Kind and un intimidating staff. Stomach filling portions! Must eat when in Stratford.

We arrived as the pre-theatre crowd were leaving. This allowed for a leisurely meal. Food and service were wonderful. The wine list was adequate, but not notable. Our food however was very good and carefully prepared. Great attention to presentation and preparation. I am a sucker for their hollandaise. Light, foamy and glorious. We were delighted with the restaurant. Our... More

It has been a long time since we dined at The Prune, in fact it was called The Old Prune at that time. I understand that new owners have taken over and that it also has established a relationship with the students at the Stratford chef's school next door. My corn chowder was perhaps the real hit of the evening... More

Second visit 4 months later... I like the addition of a Prix Fix menu; have 2, 3 or 4 courses. one thing that dismayed; junior staff need to be versed on better customer service and attitude "May I take that for you ?" instead of "are you finished?" or "still workin' on that ?" Such questions may be appropriate in... More

From the first amuse bouche to the post dessert amuse bouche, The Prune provided one amazement after another. They were happy to seat us early, happy to take their time since we were not rushing off to the theatre, happy to suggest excellent wine pairings with our meals, and alert to our few concerns about food (although my poor friend... I have an allergy to grape products which makes visiting high-end restaurants rather dangerous. I informed The Prune about my restriction when I made the reservation. When I saw the menu, I was at first upset that there would be little I could eat, but the chef de cuisine was very helpful and managed to modify a few dishes and... More
