Description: 2014 Season: May 23 to September 20. "At Stratford's top choice for sophisticated haute cuisine the look is summery and modern: brick is exposed, windows are unadorned and panoramic, and, with a theatrical flourish, flowing white silk scarves hang from primitive stone masks... The more relaxed Sophisto-Bistro, at the same location, has two- and three-course dinners that might include hot-smoked trout salad with fingerling potatoes in a hot bell pepper cream or, for dessert, poached apples and candied apple ice cream. Considerable artistry is lavished on preparation and presentation." (Fodor's Travel) Pre-theatre seating times: 5, 5:15, 5:30, 5:45, or 6 pm. Closed: Monday and Tuesday.

Yes, pricey, but cheaper than the regular Rundle's, and just as pretty. 2-course menu w/o drinks (or tax or service) $40; 3-course $50... but definitely worth it for that special meal in Stratford. And, they understand play schedules. Conveniently located between the Avon and Tom Patterson theaters and walking distance from the Festival too.

Lovely spot to enjoy pre theatre dinner in Stratford, and we totally recommend it. Excellent food and service. We enjoyed the set two- and three-course menu, great value. The bistro wine was also very reasonable, at $35/bottle ($9/glass). Amazing find, the best bistro in town, and we highly recommend it. But, make a reservation well in advance, especially on weekends,... More

My wife and I had dinner at Sophisto-Bistro in August. Looking back on our one week in Stratford, it was my favorite dining experience. We ate at all of the other highly rated restaurants in Stratford during that week. The service, atmosphere and food at Sophisto were wonderful. We brought our own bottle of wine which they served with a... More

We had an excellent meal here. The service is first rate and each dish is carefully prepared and beautifully presented. It IS pricey but well worth the cost.

Very pricey and elaborate for pre-theater since their business is so slow that Bistro was closed and given a table and menu for Rundles. Service was attentive, food, food was good, but more elaborate and costly than expected or needed pre-theater.

The Bistro menu is well organized and include homestyle dishes such as Braised Shortrib. Price range is better than Rundles but with same good quality of food. Service was good and food came in a timely fashion so we were not pressed for time getting to the show. Could use a few more desserts on the menu. A good experience... More

After an excellent lecture with Antoni Cimolino in the morning and a fabulous performance of Measure by Measure in the afternoon, dinner at the Rundles Sophisto-Bistro was a lovely interlude before going to see Mary Stuart in the evening. The atmosphere was soft and serene with beautiful pastel colours and interesting sculptural art, and there was a feeling of lightness... More

This is the second time my wife and I visited. The food was creatively prepared with many varying flavors. But first course portions were ridiculously small for the money. Don't need to be fed huge amounts of food, but there is a point when you wonder really what you're paying for. That being said, the food was tasty and very... More

To ensure we have a good table after the afternoon show, I booked a table over 3 months in advance with a request to be seated by a window. I was asked to dish out $200 non-refundable deposit ($50 per person) for the reservation and was told explicitly that a table by a window was not guaranteed. It was unbelievable... More
