On all three mornings of our recent stay in Ottawa I had the usual great breakfast at the Elgin Street Diner. We usually stay at the Victoria Park Suites Best Western just around the corner on O'Connor, so in fact, every time we go I make sure to drop in for the breakfast special - two eggs, perfectly cooked bacon... Great vintage dinner. Excellent service and atmosphere. Open 24h, so quite busy at bar's closure.

This is the best place to go at any time of the day. I went for breakfast, lunch or late after going out. The food is good and it's good price. It's a good place to go with friends after clubbing or with kids. Not a good place for a romantic dinner tough. Prices are good for budget.

We have been going to this restaurant weekly for the past several years. We normally split one of the weekend specials. Our favorites are the frittatas, eggs benedict and omelets. Get there early as it gets busy. The food is always fresh and plentiful. The staff are excellent and we see the same servers every week. This is the best... More

We stayed at Downtown Ottawa during the Civic Holiday long weekend and walked 20 minutes to this restaurant for dinner. I had a reuben club sandwich with minestrone soup. Both were excellent especially the soup. My hubby had a burger and added $3.49 to get poutine instead of fries. The side poutine was huge. The fries were very thin and... More

We walked down Elgin Street past at least 20 other empty restaurants and got to the ESD to find a line out the door, the wait was only about 15 minutes and well worth it Amazing food, great wait staff, even the owner and his wife were serving and pouring coffee refills For late brekky we had: - Big breakfast,... Excellent service. Very good portion sizes = good dollar value. If you're looking for fancy, go somewhere else..you want diner food, all-day breakfast, or many different kinds of poutine, then this is the place!

Overcooked eggs, tough sausage, mediocre coffee... and the unpleasant surprise of a long, greasy hair underneath the food. Basic breakfast is overpriced at $8, same with peameal bacon costs a ridiculous $3 more (that's, what, a buck a piece?). Don't care that it's open 24 hours. That just means that on future visits to Ottawa I can avoid this place... More

This is an old style diner and the food is great. I make it a point of eating here at least once every business trip. You cannot go wrong with the burgers
