Shafali must be one of the longest-lasting restaurants in the Byward Market. We first went there in about '97 when we really liked it and, having lived overseas for much of the time since then, we decided to return and see if it was as good as we remembered. An appetizer plate contained several faves: seekh kabob and chicken tikka... More

There aren't any Indian restaurants where I live, so I was looking for one when I visited Ottawa. The atmosphere is nothing special, but also not awful. In my excitement at finally getting to an Indian restaurant, I ordered too much food. It wasn't great enough to take the leftovers back to my hotel. I ordered the butter chicken, which... More

Terrible take away on valentines day. Food took 1:30 to arrive even though we were only 3 blocks away, delivery was $7! Food was cold and runny. No taste to it whatso ever and very chewy meat. Definitely won't order from them again!

The curry I had was hot and spicy - ideal on a cold evening. Service could have been quicker, but, the cool beer and garlic nan rounded my dinner off!

This eating place is in the Byward Market area of the city, a nice friendly atmosphere with a reasonably varied menu at a fair price. I had the beef curry at the spice level of my choice, it took a little time to come but was very tasty and well presented.

I do not recommending this restaurant kebabs. What I ate could not name as "Kebab" May be some other name could. Meat, mixture and cooking way were not proper. Nan was good. Soup and rice were heat up in microwave but over.

Short and sweet....they cater to tourist clientelle and that's too bad. While food is average to very good, the portions are tiny and overpriced. WAY overpriced! $5. for tblsp of chutney?! Homemade yoghurt? I think not. Too runny..just watered down commercial yoghurt but pricey. But it's the run down uninspired decor and lack of ventilation that "reeks" of tourist trap!... More

We were recently staying at the Westin in central Ottawa, and had a desire for Indian. Chose Shafali based on its central location, and comments here on TripAdvisor. Wonderful aromas coming from the open kitchen. We chose the combination dinners. I suspect the items on the combination dinners were already prepared. Most of the food was tasty, but sadly it...
