I was very surprised and delighted that the quality of the seafood was so good. Originally from New England, I did not think it would live up to my expectations, but it did. Perfectly sized portions with great flavor. Attentive staff completed our experience.

I know the secret is to have bacon in the Calm Chowder. But I doubt that the fisherman had the luxury to use bacon, since they use their products first.

Went there Friday evening for dinner. Had a couple of younger people who weren't fish "friendly" but they thoroughly enjoyed their salads. Those who had fish really enjoyed it...salmon, trout and I had lobster poutine and crab cakes, I really liked the fact it was smaller and the staff seem genuinely nice, not the "strained" smile servers you see other... The fish store and the restaurant is connected so you have this overwhelming smell of fish when you enter. But, the smell eventually dies down once you start eating and get used to the smell. The restaurant is quite small too, but the people there are SO NICE!!! and the food is AWESOME!!! Try the clam chowder! It's a must!... More

Awesome!!! No matter what you order or who you order it from...this place is never a miss. I've been here probably more than 20 times and its always amazing. Says alot about a place when the same staff are here year after year. Reservations are recommended.

We had lunch on Friday, myself and my co workers had a great lunch. The food was amazing I had the Pasta special YUMMY. The service was attentive and very friendly as we were served by the entire team. The best part about it was the server that came to the table with a guitar and sang happy birthday finished... More

Happy Birthday Martin. Thanks for joining us, your singing server was Peter. Here is a little trivia...Peter was the lead guitarist and singer of the Shineolas a Calgary punk band in the 80's. Leslie Feist's band opened for Peter's band. Cheers, Jim More

I was there for a weekday lunch with few co-workers. I had a fettuccine with assorted seafood (mussels, fish, etc.) and baby mushroom. It was very delicious. My co-workers had lobster bistro and fish & chip. They said those are excellent also. What impressed me the most was the services. The waiter was so cheerful. Great food, great service, reasonably... This was our first visit to the Pelican Grill. Being fairly new to Ottawa we were looking for a good seafood restaurant. We certainly weren't disappointed here! The Pelican Grill was a great find. The broccoli soup with walnuts was amazing. We were intrigued when our server described it so had to try it. My only regret was ordering a... More

I eat at the Pelican Grill frequently at lunch and occasionally at dinner. The food is excellent, and my friend and I are always treated really well. We don't usually have a reservation at lunch, but they are recommended as it gets very busy. Nonetheless, the staff treat us well, and find us a table if it's at all possible.

Thanks Sarah, don't forget to tell us when you are coming in for your birthday lunch. Peter the wild waiter loves to pull down the fish guitar and sing happy birthday when we bring you your birthday fish head. Cheers, Jim More

Read the other reviews....they're spot on! The food is consistently delicious and fresh. Calamari, chowders, oysters and fish and chips are my favourite! Attached to a fish market, you can see what you are about to eat and take some home. Place your order before you're seated and take it home! I agree about the ambience though...a little crowded and... More
