Good place to eat

Went to this bar twice when we stayed in Ottawa on 6th/7th June. First night we sat outside and had a drink, a lovely place to people watch as this bar is very centrally located. The second night we ate inside the bar as there was no room outside to sit. The food was very good, quite large... read more

Decided to watch the World Cup game while eating dinner....glad we came across this place. Started with the chips and dip which were outstanding.....served hot and just right amount of salt. I had the shepards pie which was yummy. The portion was large....but I had to finish it since it was so good. My son had the steak and fries....which... More

Wonderful service, nice cold beers, and affordable prices right near parliament. Mix of Irish and Canadian fare; ordered off the 2 for $20 menu and was not disappointed.

Typical pub food with lots of beer choices. I ordered the fish and chips. It was good but he cole slaw salad had nothing on it. My wife ordered Ma's crispy chicken. It was terrible. It looked and tasted as if it had been more than OVErDONE. We love chicken but his stuff was not edible. The creamed corn was... More

Overall great menu with alot of choices. Lamb shank done well, fish overdone. Very friendly staff that seem happy to work there. Can get noisy & rowdy so not conducive to conversations.Great outdoor patio for people watching in a busy pedestrian area. That creates the problem of finding parking and at a reasonable cost.

Went here with a large group. The staff were very attentive, but did have some issues with the orders, with several members of our party missing out on their meals until very long after the rest had finished eating. Food was fresh, large portions, but I didn't find it memorable. The place is huge, so lots of room for a... More

Heard their lamb pies were excellent. My wife and I had them, they were tasty but very little meat. Our server asked us about the meal and we mentioned the above, she was surprised as this in not their norm. When the bill came they had cut our food bill in half, including that of a third person with us... More

Simply put, GO THERE when in Ottawa. Great food, service is high quality, price/value for food is good. Great selection of local and regular brews. I go there every time I am in Ottawa and love it. It's a must at least once (or twice) :-) Close to all the downtown hotels, short walking distance.

This was my post-race celebration meal after the 1/2 marathon (I'd wanted to go the night before, but it was super busy), and it didn't disappoint. My black velvet was great - I generally like it more 1/2 and 1/2, but it was a warm day, so the lightness of a little more cider was good. I had the bacon... More

My last visit to Ottawa was in the fall of 2001 and I remember coming to McGee's and enjoying the Guinness Steak and Mushroom Crock. Had to have it again and it didn't disappoint. Washing it down with a pint with my wife and friends to carbo load before the Ottawa Marathon made it even better. This is a nice... More
