After my first day at a new job my partner took me here for dinner and drinks. It was a great place to celebrate! Service was excellent, everyone was so friendly. The charcuterie and cheese plates were excellent with some nice wine. We ended up sharing the boar sausage (with a great sauerkraut), frites, cauliflower, pork belly (my favourite!). All... More

My wife and I went based on the excellent Trip Advisor ratings and came away underwhelmed. The service was great - we came without lunch reservations and a baby in a stroller and the waitresses removed some chairs and had us seated quickly near the front of the restaurant. We had steak frites, boar sausage, gnocchi, and scallops. The steak... More

I went to Play twice, once for an evening gathering with colleagues and the second time for a leisurely lunch with my husband. The food was outstanding both times, and the small plates concept is certainly catching on. For dinner, I had the Arctic Char and shared a curried cauliflower; I then splurged on the Baked Alaska with peppermint meringue,... More

We liked this place for dinner. Great service, knowledgeable staff, and an interesting menu. I would not return as it is too pricey for my tastes. Things added up quickly!

My friends and I like to treat ourselves to an evening at Play. We can eat as much or as little as we want (usually much) because of the small plates - and we get to sample many dishes and flavours. It's the perfect atmosphere for a long dinner lingering over a few bottles of wine and amazing food. The... More

I was looking for something light for dinner. It's been full meals for lunch and dinner the last five days of my Canadian vacation. As a small plates restaurant, Play seemed like the perfect option. I had the Arctic Char. It was perfectly done, the portion was adequate for me and, coupled with a nice local beer on tap, was... More

Always eat here when I visit Ottawa. Been to Play four times in past two years and every visit is exceptional. The food is fantastic and the staff are always pleasant and welcoming. Great job. Can't wait to come back!

The food is great. But portions are very small. The pictures here and online are super deceptive. Take them and minimize by half and that's what you will get. If they upped the portions a bit then I would have loved it.

While in Ottawa last Friday night I had the chance to dine at Play Food & Wine with my wife and daughter. I am always a fan of the small plate and tapas idea. Love to try different food and Play did not let me down. I enjoyed the Arctic Char and the Boar Sausage. Both fabulous. My wife had... More

My two friends and I had a wonderful lunch at Play on Friday afternoon. We all ordered the gnocchi and scallops and both dishes were delicious. The service was also very efficient and attentive and the atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxing. All in all a wonderful experience. I have eaten at Play a few other times, and I have... More
