We invited our friends from Montreal and Vancouver to join us for dinner at Play because we absolutely loved our dining experience 2 years ago. Everyone in our party loved everything that we tried (which is almost everything on the menu) and appreciated gracious hospitality that we received. We even got to savor a dessert that was not on the... More

In Ottawa solo for a conference, I dined at Play one evening and enjoyed my meal and wine. They feature an interesting wine list of local Canadian wines. As I was not at all familiar with the wines, the waitress indulged me with tastes of one or two glass pours until I found one I enjoyed, whereupon I ordered several... More

By far one of our favorite places in Ottawa. The staff is exceptional, so put your experience in their hands and you wont be disappointed. We gave them an idea of what we liked, and they made recommendations and brought wine pairings for each. Bottom line we had a great time , Thanks Play.

We had a dinner in this restaurant and it was OK, but not really what we was expected. Meny was intresting, so we took 4 different dishes and one side dish. Portions quite small and rather on a expensive side, but tastes good, not amazing though. Every dish we took had some kind of unexpected ingredient in it, for example... More

Birthday lunch this week with my girlfriend (and wife.) We came later so that it would be quieter based on previous reviews. Was a good choice since we lingered and enjoyed our food and wine over 2 + hours. Service was very good. Our attendant pointed out that the plates are really what we would call "small plates" as opposed... More

The food is good, yes. The portions are small and meant for 'sharing'. It's a fun atmosphere for social groups or first dates. The decor is lackluster, but upscale enough to warrant higher food prices. Service was not very tentative, but friendly.

This was a lovely, light lunch on a summer Sunday. We shared the dishes which included the cheese plate and the waiter brought us extra crackers when he noticed this. A nice touch. Everything was perfect and the chocolate pate was amazing!

Always a special part of any trip to Ottawa. This time I brought my daughter, and she is most enthusiastic. The food is both imaginative and excellent. Very accommodating to vegan/vegetarian. Superb wine list, including by the glass. Friendly and knowledgeable service.

I enjoyed lunch here with a group of six. They have a deal for lunch where you get two dishes for $22. The dishes are tiny so you would need two or three dishes to be full. The scallops were good and the watermelon salad was great. Perfect in the summer. The trout was very good as well. The hanger... More

I met a good friend that I had not seen for a long time. We talked constantly, shared family and travel photos. The service could not hâve been better. Not only did she speak french but she was attentive to our slower pace eating, we were sharing so much! The food was excellent, a thaï inspired soup and hank steak... More
