Love The Tapis!!!

The portion sizes are large for tapis, which was great for me and my 4 friends. We had octopus, new to the menu, best I've ever had!! As well as ancient grains , beets, pork belly, mushrooms, beef, figs, - all were fantastic!! Food and wine were slightly more expensive than other tapis-wine bars... read more

Enjoyed a terrific solo dinner at Play. Great wine list with good by the glass choices. Terrific small dish options; suggest the tuna tartare and gnocchi, both were great. Service friendly, helpful and efficient.

A traveling companion and I recently dined at Play. We had the house-made gravlax as an opener, and opted to choose four small plates for sharing, served in sequence from light to heavy. We also chose Play's recommended wine pairing with each dish. The marinated fig with goat cheese and pistachio was delicious and paired wonderfully with a Cave Spring... More

Recently had a late dinner date. I booked online, and going by the photos on the web had expected a less spartan environment (the chairs undermined the atmosphere - they felt very cafeteria, lighting was a bit harsh at first). The staff were incredible, though some were very casually dressed, more for a country diner. The food presentation was superior... More

A very interesting and unusual menu, with tapas-style dishes. A number of interesting choices. Wine list is modest, surprisingly few Canadian selections. Worth your consideration. Very friendly staff,

We shared some great food at a quiet table and were able to talk quietly all evening. Our server was friendly, very knowledgeable and had perfect timing. I will definitely be back.

Probably the most enjoyable dining experience in the Byward Market ever! The food was incredible, wine pairings bang on, and the service could not have been better (thanks, Connor!). The ambiance is understated, yet elegant, upscale, yet casual. From the moment we were seated we realized that ALL staff were expertly trained - pleasant, efficient, very knowledgeable, and eager to... More

We had the tuna tartare which was flavoured to perfection. I suggest that you consult the menu on line before deciding to go to Play. All of the entries are well executed but the small plate format and inventive dishes may not suit some diners. I was a bit disappointed that the seared scallops were no longer on the menu.

We enjoyed dinner at Play prior to a show at the National Arts Centre. Definitely a fun atmosphere and the dishes were well prepared and expertly presented. A special thank you to our server who was exceptional!

Went there with friends a while ago for dinner, it was amazing, fusion casual fine dining. I think the owner is the chef that owns Becta....
