The best thing to have on a cold day in Ottawa. Its the best part about skating on the Rideau Canal!! A hot pastry and a hot chocolate. It doesn't get any better. But they are not only for winter, they are available year round in the By-Ward Market. Its a great treat. A beavertail is a large piece of... More

Good stand in the Byward Maker area for fried dough cakes with toppings that are amazing. I got the number 9 which had cinnamon, and a few other toppings with a touch of lemon sprinkled over it, I should have went back for a second one. Great Local tradition in told.

I have to admit I hate these things as they are so sweet but I have one just the same. Of course my kids would eat them all day if I let them. So get it over early and have a Beavertail. It is like kissing the toe in the Yukon, you just have to do it.

I love them as much as my kids. One of the few things the get every time they ask for it. Can't wait for the canal to open. They taste better on skates.

If you come to Ottawa you have to have a Beavertail. They are best described as a flat, deep fried pastry topped with assorted flavours. My favourite is the classic Killaloe Surise with cinnamon, sugar and a squirt of lemon. You can find them year round in a kiosk in the Byward Market, and then at assorted events throughout the... If you're in Ottawa in the winter and especially while skating on the Rideau canal, you gotta have a beavertail pastry. Awesome!!!

Nothing beats a beaver tail and a hot chocolate on a cool winter night. Kilaloa Sunrise is great. If you are visiting ottawa this is a great quick snack/bite that's yummy.

This is not a restaurant but an open air kiosk in the Byward market. If you have never tried a beaver tail, get at it. A steaming hot, freshly made fried bit of heaven. Choose what you like as a topping( my kids like chocolate) but my recommendation is the Killaloe Sunrise. Cinnamon, sugar and a squeeze of fresh lemon.... More

Got beaver tails from the concession at Lansdowne Park when visiting Hogmanay Scottish Festival on NYE. As usual, they were excellent and service fast. Fun atmosphere in front of outdoor skating rink.

Part of our package with Les Suites hotel was coupons for beaver tails. None of us had ever tried them before and they're fun! We went with the sugar and cinnamon one, which is what the coupon was for. Not nutritious, but a bit of fun while away from home! We enjoyed fast service.
