Scones - a niche commodity in the Ottawa area and the Scone Witch does it well. We returned to their new location on Elgin St. It's easy to miss, because the entrance is off a side street (Gloucester St, I think), so watch out for that. In addition to an endless variety of good sweet and savory scones, they now... More

A really good breakfast is often hard to find in the middle of a city where the local diner is a thing of the past. Set in downtown Ottawa in a very minimalist building is a little breakfast and lunch gem. Everything on the place is baked, cooked, and placed with attention to details. Cheddar scones, eggs with mushroom ragout,... More

We were thrilled to discover that this shop open just around the corner from where were were staying. It's located in the Arts Council Building which is beautiful in itself. Ginger currant scone was perfect as was the rest of our breakfast. We would gladly return next time we are in Ottawa.

Had breakfast and it was excellent, esp the scone! Stepping into the restaurant it smelled like a good bakery as there is no separation between kitchen and eating area. I found the meal a bit expensive and it is unfortunate that there are no refills for coffee but besides that would still recommend it.

Read about this restaurant on Tripadvisor. Loved my breakfast of cheddar scone stuffed with scrambled eggs and ham. Bought 6 scones to take to my aunt - apple caramel, lemon poppyseed and oatmeal - all good and oatmeal was my favourite.

We had breakfast at the Scone Witch while we were in Ottawa and it was amazing. The Breakfast sconewich with egg and ham on any scone was great. It is served/garnished with a few salad greens and a few pieces of fruit which made a beautiful presentation as well as a tasty complement. The breakfast platter is also very good.... More

I took the advice of other reviewers who said for the first visit you should have a vanilla scone with the clotted cream. It was delicious- very flaky scone. I don't think I've ever had Devon cream before and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Very light and delicate. I do agree that it is a tad... More

I'm a fan of scones and those are near perfect. A good balance between sweet and salt, a lot of selection. A must for a successful breakfast, snack or coffee time.

Came in here for a spot of lunch and had the BLT which absolutely blew my mind. The scone was crunchy and yet soft inside and beautifully set off by the other ingredients, particularly the delicious bacon they used. Ehm, then had to try one of the scones with jam and devon cream. It was duly devoured and just so... More

This cafe in downtown Ottawa has great options for breakfast and brunch. They offer both savoury and sweet scones, with something for everybody. A great place to stop for a break when exploring Ottawa's historic centre.
