Kirk Ruthann put their heart and soul into everything and their sons and daughters do a great job helping out Outdoor seating also.

Gotten takeout pies from here several times, finally ate Iunch here last winter. The soup and pizza we had was very flavorful, as was the beer from Silversmith Brewery (right across the street). Definitely our favourite place to eat in the NOTL area.

We stopped by pie plate for a quick bite on our return from Whirlpool Jet Boat tour. We ordered pizza, salads and off course the pies. The food was amazing and deserves a 5 rating but the service wasn't that good. There was lot of confusion in terms of should you wait to be seated, order food at the counter... More

On looking at the photos offered, I sure would have liked to eat at THAT restaurant. Sunday afternoon, before 1:00 p.m., and only one other couple in there, so they were not rushed. Small selection, high price. For dessert, you order at the counter, they give it to you, and go and sit down. Cramped and music is too loud.... More

There isn't a big parking lot and the restaurant is small, though in the summer there is seating on the porch, but the Pie Plate is SO worth the visit! We had the ham and cheddar grill and pulled pork tacos - both were great. And we got some freshly made cookies and tarts to go - very yummy!

I stopped in here, with a friend, on the way home from Niagara on the Lake. This is a funny little place - it looks like nothing from the road, and it sure isn't fancy when you get inside. But that doesn't matter, as the pie is the star. My friend and I had coffee and slices of perfectly delicious... More

Every time we had driven by this place, we were always surprised how busy it was. Recently we decided to stop and see for ourselves why. Although one visit may not prove to be an accurate reflection, based on our visit, we are confident that the baked goods must surely be part of the reason. The coffee was ok, but... More

I am giving The Pie Plate an average rating based on 2 experiences. We have recently moved to the area and are trying to get to all restaurants that have decent ratings. For our first visit I would give The Pie Plate 4 stars as the food (pizza) was very tasty. Our second experience however was a nightmare. We arrived... More

The secret to engaging with an area is finding those 'special places'. The Pie Plate is a special place as it is right there on the Stone Road, but I have passed it many times while driing through Virgil. How could I have missed unique sandwiches, full of flavour? Delicious thin-crust pizza where the flavours on top of the crust... More

The great people who run this place are fabulous bakers! The place is tiny - on the first floor of a house, with wooden floors and a couple of rooms for tables. They are open lunch and dinner and do serve beer and wine. The pies were gorgeous. The chicken and mushroom pastry we had was really delicious. Its a... More
