I am giving The Pie Plate an average rating based on 2 experiences. We have recently moved to the area and are trying to get to all restaurants that have decent ratings. For our first visit I would give The Pie Plate 4 stars as the food (pizza) was very tasty. Our second experience however was a nightmare. We arrived... More

The secret to engaging with an area is finding those 'special places'. The Pie Plate is a special place as it is right there on the Stone Road, but I have passed it many times while driing through Virgil. How could I have missed unique sandwiches, full of flavour? Delicious thin-crust pizza where the flavours on top of the crust... More

The great people who run this place are fabulous bakers! The place is tiny - on the first floor of a house, with wooden floors and a couple of rooms for tables. They are open lunch and dinner and do serve beer and wine. The pies were gorgeous. The chicken and mushroom pastry we had was really delicious. Its a... More

I think sometimes the service can be spotty here but we had a great experience there last week. Madeline was very helpful (even making suggestions as to what to do in the area) and friendly. We ordered the blue cheese/pear/walnut pizza which she recommended and a quiche and salad. The pizza was amazing and the salad dressing was some of... More

My best friend and I got to this quaint little restaurant late after spending the afternoon at the spa and were starving, we weren't disappointed. The historical house has charming ambience and the 50's music was fun. We both ordered their pizza and some wine. The pizza is thin but heavenly with a soft but crispy crust with delicious toppings.... More

My mom and I popped by here on a rainy afternoon for an early pre-theatre lunch. What a cute place! It was relatively quiet other than a steady stream of customers picking up pies and other desserts that they pre-ordered (always a good sign!). We shared a pizza and salad, prepared excellently and served quickly. Our waiter, splitting duty at... More

This is my second review for The Pie Plate, and I've eaten there a few times. Is the food there good? Actually, it's great. However, it is too, too overpriced. We ordered a pie. With tax, it was $22.60. For a small, sweet, 9" pie. That's outrageous. It's a pie. We also didn't care for the tone and attitude of... More

I have been visiting this local gem for a few years and realized that I have never reviewed how wonderful it is! The best is the chicken and or meat pies and perhaps the homemade fruit filled pies but honestly everything they make is delicious, homemade and made with local fruits vegetables and fresh herbs. I love getting away from... More

Located in a charming older building with the option to sit on the front porch or inside, this place is a must for anyone visiting Niagara-In-The-Lake. The strawberry and rhubarb pie is to die for.

My husband found this unpretentious place on Yelp as we planned to travel to the Niagara on the Lake area. The restaurant really is on older home and the bakery is the garage in the backyard. Lots of character and the aroma as you walk toward the restaurant is overwhelming. We were very hungry and shared a salad which had... More
