Superb food and service! Catered event on site

Betty Heyden at Blackfriars helped me set up my husband's surprise birthday party with ease and grace. She provided excellent suggestions to fit my budget and "eats" that I wanted. She told me not to worry, and she was right! The atmosphere is cozy, yet we were able to fit in 40 people... read more

Today we attended an event at London Civic Gardens - Birch Hall. The event, catered by Blackfriars Bistro was attended by approximately 75 people. A beautifully arranged cheese table featured a variety of extraordinary cheeses including a Bel Vitano merlot, an aged caraway cheese and a "Five Brothers." The savoury cheesecake of woodland mushroom and port wine was melt-in-your-mouth delicious.... More

This is a bistro where food rules. From the concept to the delivery, you always leave saying, "Wow!" The acoustics also allow for your parents to hear the conversation - an added bonus. Toss in the free parking and this is a recipe for a great family get together.

Blackfriars is always a good place for a cozy lunch or dinner. Most of the tables are for two or four people and there is limited seating in total, which could be an issue if you didn't want others to overhear your conversation. They offer a vegan option, which I was pleased to see. The menu has a good selection... More

My last time here was a flop. But last night, I felt like they were really on their game. There were 7 of us and the service was impeccable. The food was stunning and oh so tasty. No salt and pepper required. Four of us had one of the specials....the basa fish with grilled shrimp, basmati rice and baby bok... More

It's been quite a while since we visited Blackfriars.... how could we have forgotten this wonderful place! Had a lovely Tuesday nite birthday dinner - house white was a yummy, buttery Italian white - Seafood trio special with risotto was perfect, stuffed chicken breast with tasty apple chutney sauce was to die for and the beef tip tacos and Caesar... The restaurant may at first seem a bit crowded (depending on the time of the day) but the atmosphere is great and the food was very delicious. It is one of the best places to eat in London Ontario.

The title of this section asks what I liked and disliked. In short, everything and nothing respectively. The atmosphere is funky - tiled arty tables, unusual art on the walls, great decorations in various places in the resto. The service ranges from merely good to exemplary; the cooking is multi-star. I think that this is one of the finest restaurants... More

Blackfriars has been a London destination of mine for many years. The food is always fantastic! The restaurant's ambiance is not the ultimate, but the food makes up for it.
