Portugal in January

If you closed your eyes to the weather outside, you would be in Portugal. The delicious aromas that met us lived up to everyone's expectations! "Try the green wine" the waitress suggested and gave us a sample. We bought the bottle. Sea bass, shrimp and potatoes to die for. Nice to know Portugal has... read more

From the decadent aromas wafting through the restaurant to the unbelievably delicious food, the Wild Orchid never disappoints. I have yet to eat something at this restaurant that I didn't like or wouldn't order again. The Sardines, Chorico assasda and Pao de algarve are TO DIE FOR, as is every morsel of seafood in the shellfish platter (great for a... More

We had just left a very cold football game. We arrived right during prime dinner time. The hostess told us it would be a 20 minute wait until Claudia came by and said if we didn't mind sitting at the bar for a few minutes as some tables were clearing out. We did because we were not willing to sit... More

First time at this restaurant...went with another couple on our anniversary and was absolutely overwhelmed by the delicious food and service. I had the sea bass and it was just fantastic.....every bite was better than the last! My friend, who is Portuguese, had the cod fish and said it was done to perfection....a great review from a man who loves... More

We didn't have a reservation so had to wait for about half an hour, however that wait was worth it. The food is delicious and is indeed very close to original Portuguese cuisine, prices are very reasonable (including Portuguese wines), and the portions are huge!

Walking along James St decided to eat at the Wild Orchid. When we arrived the restaurant was 3/4's full and we waited a long time at the door to be greeted by anyone. When finally we were sat it took a long time for a server to come to our table in fact we had already looked over the very... More

I have been here a few times. Never by my choice. It is an ok place to go. I enjoy James street and everything they have done with it and like to support the local merchants. Most people go to eat seafood. The food is good. If you don't eat seafood though the selection is very limited. each time I... More

The Wild Orchid was a hidden gem offering great food, service, and atmosphere at very reasonable prices. We were looking for something light to tie us over 'till dinner when we came upon this place. We were totally taken back by the experience. We sat on the outdoor patio, which overlooked the street but separated by an iron fence. We... More
