An old favourite

Authentic German cuisine, old-school decor and charm, and consistently great service and quality year after year. We had the Hunter Schnitzel with spaetzle and the Farmer's Feast: roast pork, smoked ham, sausage and dumplings. They do not take reservations, so you may have a wait for dinner.

Had a very nice dinner with a girlfriend before a night at the theater. This venue is very clean and aesthetically pleasing if you enjoy feeling like you are on vacation in Germany. The service was excellent! When our order came, (Wiener Schnitzel), I almost fell over at the portion size! In fact, I could only eat half of my... More

Went to Black Forest Inn after seeing "You Gotta Eat Here!" This spot is popular without a doubt! The ambiance is old fashioned "Gasthauss" complete with servers in Dirndls, beer steins and flowery wallpaper, along with depictions of happy dancing people on the walls. The welcome was warm, the wait was a bit long as you cannot reserve, and the... More

My wife and I stopped here after being away from Hamilton for quite a few years. WOW! Schnitzel Heaven!!! We had soup (Split Pea and home made! included with the dinner) and we each had a different schnitzel. My wife had the Paris Schnitzel for the first time and loved it! Very well prepared and the toast and caviar was... More

I have been to this restaurant many times and each and every time it is consistently fantastic. The selection of choices is very wide and none will disappoint. You can ask for substitutions and it is never a problem. all. I often request dumplings which are not include with my meal selection and it is always made available.Everything is authentic... More

Decided to attend this old established landmark before a Hamilton Ti-Cat game with my wife, 10 yr old son and Ti-Cat Junior Cheerleader daughter to introduce them to a little known restaurant in downtown Hamilton. Much to my surprise the patio was a great environment to have a lunch and to introduce my family to this landmark restaurant - as... More

This place hasn't changed a bit in the last ten years; I feel nostalgic walking inside. If you are looking for authentic delicious German and Austrian food then you have found paradise. They serve very large portions, and the restaurant has a real Austrian feel to it. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in the mood for great food... More

atmosphere service - during the summer live music - portions are more than you'd expect yet the prices are reasonable - family owned. If the amount of costomers is an indication of quality than - everyone enjoys it - I have not been there without it being busy - I've gone for and dinner and it is always crowded.

OMG, holly schnitzel , my partner and I were driving back from a frustrating meeting , when he screamed at me to stop while passing by this place . So, we did and entered, I was skeptical about the place. But Once I sat down and the waitress handed us the menu. I couldn't believe that such a place even... More
