Fantastic Food Every Time

Definitely a hidden gem in Burlington away from downtown. Food is spectacular and the specials are so creative and tempting each time we go. The only negative is food sometimes takes a while but honestly, it's so good I don't ever care. It's usually packed so make a reservation as they close a bit... read more

We went on a Saturday evening for their last seating (7:30pm), we were sat right in front of the door which was not optimal since it was VERY cold that night and people keep coming in, good thing was it was their last seating of the day so once everyone was in the door was only opened once in a... This intimate little bistro serves a wonderful variety of fresh and innovative food. Ambience is soothing. Chef will customize dishes to suit people with allergies or food preferences and there is something for all on this menu. We love the Mushrooms on toast and the Moroccan Shrimp. The salads are fresh and lively with beautiful ingredients. Lovely selection of wines.... More

(love the waiter!) Love the early-bird special! Perfect cozy place with delicious meals .. only one regret .. that it's 4 hours away from home.

After spending a few hours at the Royal Botanical Garden on a chilly December afternoon, my friend and I decided to stop off at the first decent looking restaurant we could find. It was the West Plains Bistro. What a treat! She had the pasta special of the day with the soup of the day and I had the chicken... More

We were a recent group of 8 for our annual Christmas lunch. We went on a Friday so it was good to have a reservation. The restaurant is not overly large, but it is very nicely decorated (and NOT over-decorated for Christmas as you see in so many places) with a polished yet relaxed ambiance. The menu has good variety... More

My girlfriends and I were out to do the Burlington Hamilton Christmas House tour and stopped for lunch at the West Plains Bistro. This was a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't to busy when we arrived. We placed our order and we received nothing for over half an hour. When I got my tea I asked for milk it took forever... More

I am sorry you were disappointed with the service. I agree, that was not a great day for service at the bistro due to unfortunate circumstances of my scheduled staff being sick that day and a commitment at the Burlington Art Centre Soup Bowl event which two staff had to attend. I was left solo that day, and I was... More

Eight of us went for lunch to celebrate 2 birthdays( Female). The restaurant selection was made by one of the birthday people. Parking is tight so had to park on the street. The restaurant is small & saw one foursome turned away, presumably no reservation. The menu is quite extensive, but I would say has more appeal to females than... More

Some things in life are appealing because they live up to your expectations, and that's they need to do. The West Plains is like that - just the right size, just the right ambiance, just the right menu and all of that. Dave is our favourite waiter and we usually enjoy the mussels and salmon. Plus they serve really good... More

Each time we've been to this restaurant our experience has been very pleasurable. The menu offers a selection of something for everyone. The food is well prepared, cooked to order and plated beautifully. The service is always top notch and willing to accommodate. Our latest visit, everything, from appetizers through to dessert and coffee, was excellent. Except for the French... More
