We were a recent group of 8 for our annual Christmas lunch. We went on a Friday so it was good to have a reservation. The restaurant is not overly large, but it is very nicely decorated (and NOT over-decorated for Christmas as you see in so many places) with a polished yet relaxed ambiance. The menu has good variety... More

My girlfriends and I were out to do the Burlington Hamilton Christmas House tour and stopped for lunch at the West Plains Bistro. This was a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't to busy when we arrived. We placed our order and we received nothing for over half an hour. When I got my tea I asked for milk it took forever... More

I am sorry you were disappointed with the service. I agree, that was not a great day for service at the bistro due to unfortunate circumstances of my scheduled staff being sick that day and a commitment at the Burlington Art Centre Soup Bowl event which two staff had to attend. I was left solo that day, and I was... More

Eight of us went for lunch to celebrate 2 birthdays( Female). The restaurant selection was made by one of the birthday people. Parking is tight so had to park on the street. The restaurant is small & saw one foursome turned away, presumably no reservation. The menu is quite extensive, but I would say has more appeal to females than... More

Some things in life are appealing because they live up to your expectations, and that's they need to do. The West Plains is like that - just the right size, just the right ambiance, just the right menu and all of that. Dave is our favourite waiter and we usually enjoy the mussels and salmon. Plus they serve really good... More

Each time we've been to this restaurant our experience has been very pleasurable. The menu offers a selection of something for everyone. The food is well prepared, cooked to order and plated beautifully. The service is always top notch and willing to accommodate. Our latest visit, everything, from appetizers through to dessert and coffee, was excellent. Except for the French... More

My friend and I have been to this restaurant a number of times over the years, and it never disappoints. A friendly well decorated restaurant, with good food and lovely red house wine. They have a very nice selection of appetizers main courses and desserts. I had the chicken pot pie with a salad, although it does come with lovely... More

My husband and I ate there last night and had a very nice meal. We both started with the onion soup which was okay. The cheese and bread were good. The soup was a little too sweet and greasy for me and I am not a fan of rosemary. We also had the Rustic Caesar Salad and the mushrooms on... More

This is a pleasant restaurant located at the western tip of Burlington where there are very few good restaurants. The food is well presented and tasty but a bit slow in coming. Service is good and classy. Personnel seem to try to make up for the longish waiting time for your food to arrive. Prices are a bit high but... More

have been there several times for lunch and food has been excellent. Easy menu for vegetarians and carnivorous folks. Pleasant relaxed atmosphere. Easy access from the 403 down Waterdown Road and East on Plains road. TIP If you are planning lunch - make a reservation - even week days it can be busy

This is a very popular restaurant, always busy and therefore a good idea to book a table ahead. The food is excellent with a varied menu and a special if so desired. The service is very good and the décor is quite charming, tastefully lit with beautiful Tiffany lamps and candles on each table, cloth napkins (always a plus) perfect... More
