Cozy "local" serving a wide variety of imported and domestic beers for over 18 years. With our Axminster carpet, dark wood, fireplace and brass fittings, it's easy to see why this place reminds many of our ex-pat regulars of the pub they left back home. Our menu is a cross-section of Canadian and traditional pub fare, featuring fish and chips, house made pub pies and arguably the best liver and onions in town. Live entertainment is on tap every Saturday night. We are close to Hwy 400 making us the perfect stop-off on your way up to ski & cottage country or on your way home to the city. Our patrons voted us Best Pub in Barrie two years running. Come and judge for yourself.

I'm not sure what the date of your visit was, but we do not have "customer appreciation" day here unless you count New Year's Day every year when we put on a complimentary buffet (for all guests) and give out mimosas and lots of good wishes. I'm very interested in knowing more details so I can figure out why you... More

The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is above average and a menu with a pub favorites to pasta to steaks. They have about around 12 beers on tap including the usual locals as well as imports. I found the food average, in fact, a little bland. I will probably return but only for a cold one.

Thanks for popping on line to let us know about your visit. I'm so happy you liked our pub and especially good to hear you noticed what a great staff we have here. I'd like to comment on the fact that you found our food bland, but without knowing what you had it's difficult. Hope to see you again soon.... More

Stopped in for a afternoon supper. The place is a traditional pub style set up with a great feel to the place. Our service was good and the beer was cold. The food was sadly just average pub/sports bar quality. It does have a good menu and we just ordered the standard fare. They do offer some traditional pub foods... More

We do offer a selection of wings and "pub-grub", which still remains a popular choice with many of our regular crowd, however it is hard to get a feel for the traditional side of our menu until you've tasted one of our house-recipe pub pies, traditional beer-battered fish and chips or liver and onions. We hope to see you again... More

Strange location, bit hard to find... that being said, worth looking for! Very friendly and attentive staff. good prices and selection of beers. clean, well kept and nicely appointed interior. just had drinks, no food however food looked very good from patrons around me and they appeared happy. only negative is older, small tv's at the bar. will definitely come... Some people do find us a bit hard to find but we really like being off the beaten path. There's plenty of free parking and on the weekends when we are practically the only business open, it is a quiet, almost country-like setting. We are proud of our little pub and try hard to maintain the pub atmosphere. That is... More

This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've been and I had the Onion/Beer soup to start, delicious! And followed with a chicken dish that was served in a pastry with cheese and veggies and gravy... OMG, it was tasty! Bull & Barrel has been around forever and now I know why... it's always good and the service is excellent!

Went to the Bull and Barrel a few night's ago. It's a nice little pub. Server was fun. Food was not great, was average but ok. Prices were reasonable. I'd go back for a quick bite and a cold one.

We have been patrons of this pub since it opened! Why? Because of the warm welcome we always receive and the good PUB food. This isn't fine dining nor should it be. This is the neighbourhood pub where people gather with friends to share a pint. Gail

We just went today for lunch, there were 7 of us and we were the only ones eating, most patrons were at the bar. My husband and I ordered Guiness, which we were not impressed with. It was too cold and it wasn't very creamy. Two people had wings, and they were very small wings. The prices are on par... More

Hi Gillian - thanks for taking time to let us know of your visit to the Bull and Barrel Pub. As you noticed, we usually keep the music lower than in the evening so business people can conduct meetings & also for the enjoyment of our seniors who don't necessarily share our taste in music. You mentioned you thought the... More

Nice atmosphere, very friendly but this does not make up for the quality of the food served. Burger was served on a grocery store bun, was small and lacking flavour. Fries were served in a dessert dish. The Irish nachos, which used to be a great compliment to any night at the pub tasted as if fried in old oil... More

Hi Lorrie; First of all, thanks for taking the time to tell us about your experience. It seems that you have been here on more than one occasion & this time was not up to your expectations. We have always believed that a burger should be unadulterated by any seasonings or fillers. They are simply 100% ground beef, hand-made in... More
