Description: History Established in 2008. The present owner frequented the establishment for 4 years and it quickly became her favourite. When the old owners had two small children and presented her with the opportunity to purchase it, she jumped on board. She couldn't resist the temptation to be lucky enough to dine there every day and work with an amazing team of people. Jennifer was born and raised in Barrie and still calls it home. After a car accident in 1996 left her an amputee and unable to work, she was blessed to become a stay-at-home mom. In mid 2012, she was approached by her friends when they wanted to sell and she ran with the opportunity...Jen's kids were now 16 and 14 and she felt ready to commit to a full time job. And her teens were also happy to eat there more often! Jen's been going strong ever since, is continually thankful to work with incredible people, and is thrilled to have one of the only (and the best!) Female chefs in town. If you haven't tried 'The Dish', you haven't eaten well enough! Meet the Manager Amanda P. Head Chef Amanda had the honour and privilege to learn from one of the best and most known chefs in Simcoe County. She received her Red Seal certification, surpassed her talented teacher, and was ready and eager to manage her own kitchen. Amanda has had rave reviews from her guests and continues to surprise everyone with her skill and talent. She prepares food as though she's been in the business for 20 years and is a well respected chef in her field. Guests are most impressed with her ability to honour requests off menu and she always aims to please. Urban Dish is privileged to have her on their team.

A surprisingly great foodie find in Barrie ON! While the location doesn't offer a lot of curb appeal, the food and service make it worth going outside the trendy downtown core areas. Service was attentive, informed and friendly. Food and drinks came out timely and everything was really delicious. Baked scallops, calamari, steak special and lamb chops were fantastic. Portions... This was my 3rd visit to the Urban Dish. With it being Barrielicious, I expected either smaller portions or lesser quality. I was pleasantly surprised - dinner was excellent; as good as my earlier visits. The service was very friendly and appropriately paced. My only negative comment is that although the place was only 2/3 full, it was quite noisy.... More

We went during Barrilicious to take advantage of the great meal deal - tasty soup, salad or 4 large shrimp appetizer, a good assortment of main courses - lots of pasta and chicken, good portion of ribs and our steaks were tasty but a little tough and overseasoned. Desserts were delicious. We asked to be moved to a table by... More

lousy location re; parking shared with DQ; but once inside, nice atmosphere, great food, and good service. Expensive but worth a visit during Barrielicious.

I rounded up this rating from 2.4 to 3 as my wife was reasonably happy with her meal. In my case, the chicken (yes chicken) was way underdone - half of it being bright pink. As well, the potatoes were under-cooked - somewhat hard in spots. I also found it to be expensive for pretty much standard fare - the... More

My husband and I recently enjoyed a top-notch dinner for the first time at Urban Dish after living in Barrie for two years. Wish we had tried it earlier! The service was good and the food was delicious. Our appetizers were presented beautifully and very tasty, as well as both our steak entrees which were amazing -- prepared exactly as... More

Finally a restaurant that can make it in this location. After being a donut shop, a sports bar and a rib place, looks like fine dining is what will be successful. Great high end menu. Very tasty food. Staff are pretty accommodating as well. Nice to have a nice restaurant in this part of town and not have to go... More

i took my wife to dinner after people saying we had to go. I had a steak that was almost raw and very cold. The chef was yelling at a server and that was all we could hear. I will never go back

My title statement kind of says it all. We went with our 2 kids, it was their Sunday 3-course fixe pris menu but they allowed the kids to share a set (which they custom-divided for the kids and made adjustments to suit them) and they still kept every dish excellent. Coming from SE Asia, one is often disappointed with menu... More
