On a coach tour of Halifax the tour guid said, 'Coming up on the right is my favourite pub. Henry's House. It was once owned by a bloke called Henry'. A couple of days later on a bus stopped in a traffic jam we realised that we were stopped outside Henry's House so we got off and went in for... More

Great atmosphere, great food, bad server. I spent $10 on cola.... and was NEVER advised by my server. I decided not to tip him and I feel he didnt earn a penny.

The Henry house is awesome. The Downstairs is quaint and Irishy and the selection of ales and stoutes flow like the river Ganges except instead of being full of death and stench it is full of happiness and dreams. We ordered the fish and chips and lobster roll with seafood chowder. The chowder is actually the best thing ever. Like... More

Since it opened, this has been my go to pub for most occasions and it never fails! The combination of incredible Yorkshire style beer, a good burger and fries keeps me coming back and bringing friends whenever possible.

Not a seafood restaurant-leans more to standard English fare-but I had a delicious haddock dinner with very fresh roasted seasonal veggies. Save room for dessert. The home made light, creamy cheese cake is not to be missed. Comfortable outdoor seating.

We were just walking by wanting a beer and saw the seafood chowder on the menu. We ate in the downstairs pub and it was delicious! We ate chowder all through Nova Scotia and this was our favourite! We would definitely go back next time we're in Halifax!

A perfectly placed side patio elevated along the side of the nice old stone building allowed us to enjoy the beautiful day outside while having a good meal. The salmon club was good with the cream cheese spread and there was a nice selection of unique draft beer.

I know that dill in your seafood chowder sounds weird, but it was tasty and I'd have it again. The ruben was fine, nothing special. The variety of beer was interesting, never had apricot beer, but it was good. The seafood variety was good, all prepared a bit different. I was not brave enough to have the "bubble and squeak"... My wife and I ate there our first night in Halifax, it is almost next door to our hotel. We elected to eat in the downstairs pub. Our waiter was very pleasant and we enjoyed talking with him. They have a nice selection of UK beers on draft and a good pub menu. Service was excellent and the dishes that... More
