Nice, good food, in all, a pleasant experience

Went to Henry House with GF and a friend who now lives in Halifax. Made reservations (he didn't know that they took reservations!) and was seated in a pleasant table in the corner of the main floor, right next to an open window - it was fine, the weather was on the warm side. Ordered a Dark and... read more

Beautiful older house (inn?) with a downstairs pub, upstairs for "older" folks like us, and a lovely terrace for al fresco dining. We went three times during our one-week visit to Halifax. Everything was amazing. Along with friends, we tried fish and chips, lamb shank, seafood chowder, haddock, crab cakes, beef stew and bread pudding. All to die for. Staff... More

Quaint little place where you have the option to sit on the main level, downstairs or on the patio. Various beer and menu options. The food is great and they have the best seafood chowder in Halifax. The only downfall is the parking lot is not very big.

This place would be right at home in any town Scotland. Granite, low roof, carpet and tartan decor. Very pleasant and efficient staff. Reasonably priced menu with large portions. Tasty in that bland Canadian way. Great atmosphere of this is what your looking for. A throwback but well flung !

This pub dates back to 1834, and has the charm that goes with all that experience. I had jambalaya, my husband had seafood fettuccine; both were very large servings and very good to boot. The waitress - I wish I knew her name - was excellent; she was knowledgable, efficient, and friendly. I would come back.

In an old, charming, historic house very near The Westin, where we stayed. Authentic pub food. We had the beef and mushroom pie as we had already eaten a lot of fish on this trip. It was great, as was the caeser salad but the best were the home made fries. Our waitress was wonderful. The only problem was a... More

Henry House continues to be one of our go-to spots for a bite to eat in Halifax. The wait staff are friendly and helpful and the kitchen consistently gives us good food. Nice selection of locally brewed beers. Located near the Westin on the south end of Barrington Street, it is conveniently located and the atmosphere is great too. Great... More

Charming old building, varied menu, good service. We ate outside on the terrace on a beautiful evening but heard that the downstairs pub is the place to be.

Having recently moved to Halifax, I was on a mission to find a good place for fish and chips. I was pleasantly surprised to know that the Henry House offered just that. It was neither too oily, or over-fried, and accompanying dip was nicely paired. The pub is nicely located, and the patio offered both shaded and sunny places to... More

This was my second time visiting the Henry House. We seated ourselves on the patio for lunch and had to wait awhile to be brought menus but our server apologized for the wait and the rest of the night service was prompt. I ordered a simple burger and fries, which was delicious. The selection of tap beer and cider was... More
